My family loves travelling and most of our favorite place to explore are beaches. There‘s something entice about beaches that pulls us in. We love the beach for its simplicity. The peaceful feeling of walking along the shore as the sun sets. Going to the beach is more than just a trip, it’s a ritual, an alter and a reminder that life’s best moments are often the simplest.

Let me share to you my nursing era. I’m a government employee for 30 years. I worked in a government hospital for 5 years as casual employee, then I transferred to City Health Office and rendered my services in the community for 25 years. My role as a Public Health Nurse is a bridge between healthcare and the community, dedicated to promoting health, prevention of diseases, pre-natal and maternal care, reproductive counseling especially to teenage mothers. Ensure widespread and correct information about diseases, vaccination and vaccines to eliminate the fear which is very common to the people living in rural areas. Serving in a rural or mountainous areas, crossing across rugged grounds, rivers, often using vehicles or walking long distances to reach far flung areas bringing essential healthcare services to the people.

Covid time was very challenging. I was tested with my patience, resilience and sense of normalcy. As part of my responsibility, I did the advocacy to 18 barangays in our city to avoid misinformation that can cause unnecessary fear or confusion about the virus, vaccination and vaccines. I felt exhausted and anxious that I had put myself and family in danger but because it’s part of my job and of course I care about the health and the well-being of the community I get going. I carried silent prayers every time I’m out on the field. As I look back I am proud to have been part of the global effort that brings unity and empathy to conquer the disease.

On the other hand, last Feb.2023 my husband decided to accept a job offer in Dubai. The decision was tough, he had a great job in the Philippines. But realizing the benefits given he grabbed the opportunity. He told me that I will go with him. After much reflection and consideration I also made a decision to step away my role as a Public Health Nurse. The journey has been incredibly rewarding, I am deeply grateful to serve the community, the experiences, lessons, connections I have gained along the way. I had my early retirement last June 1,2023. I feel it’s time for me to focus on the next path of my personal growth. I followed my husband. I have now transitioned in to the role of a plain housewife and I’m truly embracing this new journey in my life. I have found joy, simple and meaningful moments of everyday life serving my husband. We build memorable moments, sharing compliments that strengthen our bond as husband and wife.

As the days goes by, ever find myself stagnant. Why waste of time when I could do something fun and productive while waiting for my husband from work. I found online teaching, honestly it started as a simple way to keep myself busy, laughing with students, explaining something on virtual board and looking excited as I interact.
