When I was told that this evening there was a chance to see some dancing girls I am afraid my imagination when into perv mode overdrive.
I guess the look on the fiddlers face mirrored my own when I was told "not that sort of dancing". Ho hum I have never been lucky.
Brought back down to earth with a crashing bump with the knowledge that it was to be some harmless Uz. folk dancing I still strolled along to have a mooch
The program of the show includes performances by professional musicians of the Bukhara Philharmonic, no less, playing a variety of national instruments, and a frying pan.
The folklore show takes place every evening in the courtyard of the 17th century Nadir Divan Begi Madrasah in Bukhara; starting promptly at 6:00pm, the musical ensemble kicked into action
Three sides of the courtyard are surrounded by tables, sufficient to hold an audience of just under 200, luckily managed to bag front row table, no irritating photobombing on this occasion.
Lasting just over an hour it was a right old mix of regional Uzbek dancing, folk songs and costume displays
I shall refrain from going all Gok Wan and just say the costumes were very intricate detailed colourful and well presented.
So as the veils were brought down on culture, it is time for me to return to another world.
Well now it was time to eat, the thought of Jiz, nearly put me off my food, settling for a more palatable plate of non jizzed food, lamb kebabs was the order of the day, very tasty, just not enough chips.
Strolled back to my hotel....
...and enjoyed a nightcap, bit tedious having to refil the tiny tea cup every couple of swallows, but Sarbast is a mighty fine local lager.
"Make sure ye gets a picture of the gold teeth" incanted my new found travelling friend from Dublin.
"Standstill and you can be in the background as well then" replied her most humble servant
My efforts were greatly appreciated!
It seemed like there was a day trip of a bunch of ladies in our midst
They were as interested as much in us as we were in them, having posed for several selfies with them, I may have moved from "famous in my own lunchtime" to "famous in Uz"
