Here I am again to talk about Silver and Gold. Today more about gold. One time I wrote about the polemic in buying gold in grams versus ounces. Influenced by the logic comparing g x g I saw why some people give preferences in buying gold in troy ounces, the premium on top of the gold spot is higher when you buy in grams. So after that, I decided to start saving money so I could maybe buy a 1/4 oz or even a 1/10 oz gold coin. However, as many colleagues know gold continues to rise. I feel that I am losing some opportunities.
One thing that I noticed after joining some groups on Facebook is that people buy a lot of 1g, 2.5g bars with higher premiums, and they sell like water. One thing that I noticed is that 1g of gold has been sold for around 125 CAD since I joined a couple of months ago, now it is above 130 CAD, in a range from 133 CAD and 136 CAD depending on the bar. So I decided to move forward and buy my first gram of gold. I bought from a dealer that is considered trusted in the community a 1-gram bar for 133 CAD from IGR. IGR is the Istanbul Gold Refinery, from Turkey. They produce a nice quality of silver and gold in assays. The assay comes with a serial number giving the uniqueness of that bar.
I don't have many tools to certify that is real gold, but at least I tried the magnet test which excludes the possibility of many different metals, I know that copper and silver also can't be detected by a magnet, but at least I could discard some other metals. Recently I have been seeing many posts about fake gold, usually from Pamp, Perth Mint and the Royal Canadian Mint. So I think also that not many people are producing fake gold from IGR.
The hologram sticker that comes on the back also probably is difficult to replicate. Many fake bars come in assays that have differences from the original bar. For example the "M" of PAMP usually isn't perfect. The "V" part of the M usually is bent to one side, and the fake assays can come with a perfect M that we find usually in a word font. But specially some more detailed detections should be done to confirm that you don't have a real gold bar. I saw a fake Perth Mint deceiving a Sigma! That was a awkward moment on the group of Silver and Gold Stackers in Canada on Facebook.
Now that I have 1g at least I am guaranteed a gram of gold at the current price, I expect that is go up, so for the next months I will buy slowly other grams. I think with 7 1g bars probably I would be able to sell them and buy a 1/4 oz! So weird right? Since 1/4 oz we are talking about around 8g of gold. But it looks like that 1g is sold faster compared to a 1/4 oz coin/bar.
Aqui estou eu novamente para falar sobre Prata e Ouro. Hoje mais sobre ouro. Uma vez escrevi sobre a polêmica em comprar ouro em gramas versus onças. Influenciado pela lógica comparando g x g, vi por que algumas pessoas dão preferência em comprar ouro em onças troy, o prêmio sobre o ouro spot é maior quando você compra em gramas. Então, depois disso, decidi começar a economizar dinheiro para que eu pudesse talvez comprar uma moeda de ouro de 1/4 oz ou até mesmo uma de 1/10 oz. No entanto, como muitos colegas sabem, o ouro continua a subir. Sinto que estou perdendo algumas oportunidades.
Uma coisa que notei depois de entrar em alguns grupos no Facebook é que as pessoas compram muitas barras de 1g, 2,5g com prêmios mais altos, e elas vendem como água. Uma coisa que notei é que 1g de ouro foi vendido por cerca de 125 CAD desde que entrei há alguns meses, agora está acima de 130 CAD, em uma faixa de 133 CAD e 136 CAD dependendo da barra. Então decidi seguir em frente e comprar meu primeiro grama de ouro. Comprei de um revendedor que é considerado confiável na comunidade uma barra de 1 grama por 133 CAD da IGR. A IGR é a Refinaria de Ouro de Istambul, da Turquia. Eles produzem uma boa qualidade de prata e ouro em ensaios. O ensaio vem com um número de série que dá a exclusividade daquela barra.
Não tenho muitas ferramentas para certificar que é ouro verdadeiro, mas pelo menos tentei o teste do ímã, que exclui a possibilidade de muitos metais diferentes. Sei que cobre e prata também não podem ser detectados por um ímã, mas pelo menos pude descartar alguns outros metais. Ultimamente, tenho visto muitas postagens sobre ouro falso, geralmente da Pamp, Perth Mint e Royal Canadian Mint. Então, acho também que poucas pessoas estão produzindo ouro falso da IGR.
O adesivo de holograma que vem na parte de trás também provavelmente é difícil de replicar. Muitas barras falsas vêm em ensaios que têm diferenças da barra original. Por exemplo, o "M" de PAMP geralmente não é perfeito. A parte "V" do M geralmente é dobrada para um lado, e os ensaios falsos podem vir com um M perfeito que geralmente encontramos em uma fonte de word. Mas especialmente algumas detecções mais detalhadas devem ser feitas para confirmar que você não tem uma barra de ouro verdadeira. Vi uma Perth Mint falsa enganando um Sigma! Esse foi um momento estranho no grupo Silver and Gold Stackers no Canadá no Facebook.
Agora que tenho pelo menos 1g, tenho a garantia de um grama de ouro pelo preço atual, espero que suba, então nos próximos meses comprarei lentamente outros gramas. Acho que com 7 barras de 1g provavelmente conseguiria vendê-las e comprar uma de 1/4 oz! Tão estranho, certo? Já que 1/4 oz estamos falando de cerca de 8g de ouro. Mas parece que 1g é vendido mais rápido em comparação a uma moeda/barra de 1/4 oz.
