Capture Me if You Can, Healer | Holozing Fan Art

Catching Holos is quite difficult!

If you're training to be a healer, let me tell you that your rookie days are going to be very tough. You'll have to run, jump, and crawl where you never even thought of setting foot, but the reward is great: fantastic creatures whom you can be friends with (a bit forcefully), but friends nonetheless.

Hello again, Holozing community! I'm back with a new Fan Art. I've set a goal to create at least one painting about Holozing each week. I hope you don't mind so many fan arts, but I want to explore some ideas that have been swirling around in my head for a while. That's why today I wanted to paint the toughest stage of any learning process: the first days. In the case of Holozing, it's the first attempts to catch a creature.

For this, I imagined a novice healer who doesn't even have the capture device yet. It's like they were sent into the forest, left there, and asked to come back with a freshly captured Holo. Poor guy, I feel sorry for this newbie, although I applaud Infurno for not being easily caught.

-Step 1:

In the sketch, I focused on capturing the idea I had in my head. I wanted Infurno to be fleeing, while the healer was in a somewhat embarrassing situation. So, I looked for some references of foxes and dogs running to accurately depict the anatomy and movement of Infurno, as I don't often draw animals. As for the novice healer, I improvised his pose a bit since I never found an image that could serve as a reference for how I wanted to portray him.

-Step 2:

You've been reading this all week, but yes, once again, I used the pen tool to fill in the shapes of the characters. This is the most effective way to achieve a good figure without any strange edges.

-Step 3:

I focused on Infurno since he was in the foreground and had good references to work with. I enlarged one of his eyes to make him look cuter and paired him with a background filled with vibrant green colors. However, as I painted, I wondered whether to add other colors or leave everything in different shades of green for the vegetation.

-Step 4:

Finally, it's time to work on the healer. I had been neglecting him from the beginning because, as I mentioned earlier, I didn't have a reference for him. So, I had to take some photos of myself in that same position to achieve a better result. The first thing that stood out was that his right arm was in a strange position and made him look like he had a broken arm. I corrected that and then focused on adjusting the pose of the hand trying to catch Infurno.

-Step 5:

I continued working on the healer, using the official images of the healers provided by @holozing as a guide for his appearance and attire. However, I didn't want to stick strictly to them; instead, I aimed to give the healer a different look that made him appear young and without the official uniform. Something that made me chuckle is that I don't usually paint young men, so as I detailed his face, I felt that he became more androgynous with each stroke. It was unintentional, but rest assured that my intention was to portray a young man or teenager. In the end, I spent a long time adjusting the lighting values of the scene to achieve something eye-catching and beautiful. Let me know in the comments if I've succeeded and if you liked this scene.

Nice! Dude just got wrecked haha. I can see this as the beginning of a beautiful friendship 😸.

He may not have captured it physically, but no doubt their hearts are already bound together 🫶
