World No 3 Rafael Nadal failed to advance to the semis of the Madrid Open has he was handed a shocking defeat by Alexander Zverev.
The 24 year old German who is yet to drop a set in Madrid this week overturned the tie after been down 4-2 in the 1st set and to see off 5time winner Nadal 6-4 6-4.
Zverev will now face 3rd seed Dominic Thiem in the semi final of the tournament after the Australian defeated John Isner 3-6 6-3 6-4.
After the match, excited Zverev had this to say;
"It is the toughest thing to do in our sport. Beating him in his house, in Spain, is incredible but the tournament is not over yet."
