Hello Everyone!!! I hope you are having a great time over there? It's really nice to see you visit my blog today and I must say I'm really happy to have a great personality like you visiting my blog today 😊. Thank you once again 💕❤️
In reflecting on 2023, I find it challenging to pinpoint where my story truly begins. The year proved to be a transformative experience, particularly after facing numerous rejections from traditional manual job offers the previous year. However, that chapter is now history, as I've transitioned into a full-time Web3 contributor, earning online thanks to The Graph Advocate Program.
In today's post, I'll be recounting my journey as an advocate on The Graph. I genuinely hope you find it educational. This post isn't about showcasing achievements rather its purpose is to motivate and enlighten you about how Web3 projects such as The Graph can positively impact your life.
How It All Started
My journey as an advocate on The Graph commenced when I explored potential tasks on Dework in a quest to earn a living. I came across various tasks from diverse Web3 projects, each offering different rewards upon successful contribution by the contributors.
Experienced Dework users will agree that applying for ten tasks doesn't guarantee acceptance. Rejections may occur, preventing you from contributing to some projects among the ten tasks depending on the organizer's discretion.
I consistently applied for all the bounties on the trending page, leading me to discover "Graph AdvocatesDAO." Noticing tasks related to content creation, which aligned with my preferred niche, I decided to submit my application for the bounty.
After clicking on the available content creation bounties available on Graph AdvocatesDAO, i noticed some messages or information popped up which has to do with being an advocate before applying for Bounty tasks on Graph AdvocatesDAO Dework platform. I actually didn't wanted to miss the opportunity to utilize my content creation skills and most especially the rewards attached to the bounty, I had to quickly sign up for The Graph Advocate program since that was the only way to take part in the bounty task on Dework.
The Onboarding Process
Upon registering through the attached Dework link, I promptly received an email confirming that my application for the advocate program would undergo review. The team assured they would contact me if I progressed to the next stage.
As I awaited the team's feedback, I joined the Discord community and discovered others sharing the same eagerness to become advocates for The Graph. I reached out to Abas Ben, the leader of the African community and an existing advocate, bombarding him with questions about the Advocate program. It felt similar to the anticipation and curiosity one experiences when planning to enter a preferred school and meeting senior students – that was my sentiment back then!😀
After a few days of patiently waiting, I received another email from the team requesting a follow-up interview scheduled through Calendly. This interview, conducted via voice communication, introduced me to Poptones, Estie, Colson, and Doxe 😂—four well-known figures in The Graph Advocate community. Every Graph Advocate is familiar with these influential individuals due to their significant impact. The interview was particularly memorable for me, as it provided an opportunity to learn valuable insights about The Graph and the Advocate program. I also seized the chance to express my enthusiasm, digital skills, and how I envisioned contributing meaningfully to the community.
Several weeks later, I received a congratulatory message from the team, confirming my successful application as an advocate for The Graph. Yes! Yes!! That's how I officially became a The Graph Advocate 😀.
Now, let me share some of the experiences both positive and challenging that unfolded during my time as an advocate in the year 2023.
SOME GOOD EXPERIENCES
These are some of the good experiences that I encountered as an advocate on The Graph and i definitely hope you'll find this informative.
#1 Community
One great advantage of being an advocate on The Graph is that it gives me this sense of entitlement that I am part of a strong Web3 community doing something great. As an advocate on The Graph, we share similar goals and we are always there for each other when it comes to sharing ideas or supporting other advocate in the community. Being part of a productive Web3 community like The Graph Advocate is definitely one of the best thing that happened to me last year.
An unforgettable moment within the community occurred when I crafted a blog post about The Graph last year. Surprisingly, a DAO member reached out to me via email, providing constructive feedback and guiding me to rectify errors in my content before its approval. This experience reinforced my belief that the community is committed to bringing out the best in its members. Such support is a key factor ensuring the continuous success of The Graph Advocate community in making quality contributions to The Graph.
#2 Earning
Advocates on The Graph have the opportunity to receive grants typically in The Graph Token (GRT). These grants are divided into two parts: the Contribution Grant, distributed based on advocates' levels of contribution, and the Community Grant. To secure the community grant, advocates must submit proposals outlining how they intend to positively impact The Graph ecosystem. Once approved by the team, advocates receive their funding in the form of grants.
Being a The Graph Advocate allows me to earn comfortably from home by delivering valuable contributions as a content creator on The Graph. The joy of being rewarded for my efforts as a first-time advocate is an unforgettable experience. Contributing and earning substantial rewards from the comfort of home is indeed a great and fulfilling feeling.
#3 Learning More about The Graph
Being an Advocate on The Graph has opened lot of opportunities for me when it comes to learning more about The Graph and it's ecosystem. The advocate program has also exposed me too various Web3 tools and how they work with The Graph.
As advocates, we actively participate in monthly community meetings on Discord, where I gain insights from seasoned contributors and advocates in the Web3 space. This engagement has significantly broadened my knowledge about The Graph and its various aspects.
#4 Increased Engagements
In my role as a content creator advocate on The Graph, I observed significant improvements on my social media account (X), including a notable increase in followers and engagement. Moreover, my blogs attracted new visitors seeking insights into Web3 and The Graph-related content. A heartfelt thank you to the community for the continuous support and mentorship.
#5 Official Retweet
One of the most delightful experiences I had as an advocate was when The Graph X account officially retweeted my contribution. This retweet significantly boosted the visibility of my post on Twitter, providing me with increased exposure to impressed Web3 projects.
While I wish I could provide proof or evidence of this, it's unfortunate that my previous X account was suspended by the Twitter team. This serves as a reminder that life's journey is filled with both ups and downs, and I need to share some less favorable occurrences during my experience.
SOME BAD EXPERIENCES
These were some of the challenging experiences I faced last year, but they are now in the past as I have healed from those occurrences.
#1 Lost My GRT Wallet To Hackers
One of the initial setbacks in my journey as an advocate occurred when I lost my wallet to hackers due to a lapse in caution. I've learned my lesson from this mistake. The hacker gained access to my Metamask wallet by tricking me into testing a game he claimed to have developed on the Ethereum Blockchain (P2E). Unaware that he had sent a phishing link, I downloaded the game on my PC, granting him access to my wallet. Subsequently, he withdrew all my GRT tokens along with other tokens in the wallet.
Following the incident, I promptly notified the Advocate team via email and successfully updated my wallet address in the database. Since then, I've become more vigilant and cautious, placing a heightened emphasis on securing my wallet.
#2 Twitter(X) Account Suspended
Another setback occurred when my former X account was suspended by the Twitter team without clear reasons. This was particularly disheartening as a significant portion of my valuable contributions as an Advocate on The Graph was associated with that X account . The most challenging aspect was losing valuable Web3 followers and contacts due to the suspension of my previous X account.
I already created a new X account and it's really great growing my new X account with Web3 contents and The Graph related contents.
#3 Content Sourcing
As a newcomer, my initial challenge revolved around finding content related to The Graph, a hurdle I believe many bloggers and advocates face. It's a moment where you begin contemplating how to contribute to the community uniquely, leading you to explore and write topics specifically related to The Graph.
Now, that's history, as I've successfully developed my preferred content sourcing strategy as an advocate, enabling me to create diverse and valuable content about The Graph. This approach has been working seamlessly for me.
#4 Delay In Contribution Validation
The last significant challenge involves the delay in receiving contribution feedback from the top DAOs.
While it's understandable considering the substantial volume of submissions, I hope the team can enhance the validation process for contributions, ensuring advocates receive feedback and rewards more promptly.
