It takes me a very long time to work through Holiday photos. A 10 days holiday in Tunisia in August 2024 is still be slowly drip fed into my feed. There are still 4 maybe 5 major posts to go, but then there are the thing that are left over, not quite enough to s single post, not really fitting into a big narrative, and then you end up with photos, unrealted to each other, but you are proud enough of them that you want to share them.
So let's have it
The offical government buildings in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, it was weirdly empty and also felt non central, like this is where the intellectual, structured, safe life happens, whilst the people we near the Medina.
A wall in Kairouan - there was something about this that was exotic to my eyes, some combination of the tiny bricks, the pure blue sky, the beating sun and the palm tree.
A Mosque, this time in Douz - and no those aren't cobwebs on it, they are fairy lights. And again look at that brickwork.
After all this desert it's important to remember that Tunisia is a coastal and there are fascinating beaches, this one is on Djerba Island, not the prettiest, but there was something about the feeling of it, it was for locals not tourists, and that water was the warmest I think I'd ever been in.
And Finally - Sidi Bou Said, just 10km or so north of where we started, the land of white and blue houses, again endless sun and so much beauty
