Acrylic Paint Marker & Ink on A4 Printing Paper
Theme - In the darkest hours, my wings of light will be around you, keeping you safe.
A simple but rather intense piece.
Drawing Process
Basic planning and pose setup
Cleanup and Ink
Everything is better with wings
More Ink once the wings finally looked okay
Painting Process
From darkest to lightest, start building up layers of shadow and shape. This part of the process is tricky at times but so fun, get it right and the rest will look awesome, get it wrong and you end up with a pretty mediocre looking thing. Quite a few mistakes were made here, but I am learning and like the overall thing either way.
Lighter layer of shadow, the intense gray represents the figures not being fully untouched by the darkness around them
Two shades of colour for the skin
Using pen to add some more depth and darkness to the image, making it a little bit more dramatic
The rainbow wings are the most fun but also most difficult to get just right, can never get the image of them from my mind onto the paper as accurately as
i would like.
The colours for the wings need to go over the the background so it is added now, instead of last, which I usually prefer to do
With the background finished, more colours can now be added. I chose to use chaotic and rather aggressive looking semi hatching technique here to represent the feeling I was trying to convey.
Colours! (To symbolize life and love and hope.)
All in all this piece isn't perfect but I consider it very successful from a symbolic point of view. Also still looks pretty cool, I like it well enough.
Videos are just fun to make really, have to practice those editing skills.
Well, that's it for now, thanks for reading.
Till next time!
