Liquid rewards of this post will be used for a Silver Bloggers Christmas Contest

Hello, Silver Bloggers!

We are back with another bunch of posts from our Silver Bloggers - it's that time when we share some of your gems.

But first, let me tell you how we selected the posts.

Selection criteria

All the posts are chosen from posts in the community, and from accounts that have subscribed to the Silver Bloggers' community. Also, the topic must fit in with our general themes as set out on our community page -

  • a keenness to learn more about blockchain and crypto
  • life experiences
  • musings and memories of lives lived
  • planning for (and doing) life beyond formal work

Posts that are a response to #BOM and #SilverPrompts are not considered.

If you missed some of those awesome posts, we encourage you to go back and read them. If you would still like to support the authors, even though some are past their payout dates: don't waste your vote, leave a tip. (The web versions of @peakd and @ecency offer this facility.)

The "Smorgasbord" - Edition December 15, 2023!

Decorating the House for Christmas

by @sunscape

This year I only put up my small white tree on the main floor. I was not sure how our young dog would be with all the garlands and bulbs. So, our main tree stayed in the tote which was hard for me because I love having the main tree in the family room. This year I just put up garlands that are out of reach for a young dog that still seems to be in the puppy stage.

THE FELLING OF A GIANT ~ over 250 years old would be my guess.

by @thebigsweed Long Silver

The disquiet that was apparent in her voice had to do with the tree you see in this picture. Last year, this astounding, giant Hard Maple tree looked like this, besides the upside triangle of course. The triangle I placed here outlines an area of the tree that shows that something was not right, which no one noticed last year. The slight difference in the color of the foliage, a pale green rather than the deep green you see on both sides of the triangle was of no concern, until recently.

Evaluating a pre-loved haul

by @shanibeer Silver Moon

I love browsing the Oxfam online shop with its feast of pre-loved items. Among all the polyester and occasion frocks, there are occasional gems and, over the past two or three years, I have steadily built my wardrobe.

A Stunning Sunrise in Central Oregon

by @oldmans

The day had finally arrived for us to go out to the woods and retrieve our Christmas Tree. Our first task though was to get some coffee, eat and take a little walk around town. We had no idea the visual wonders the Universe had in store for us! Follow along as I share the visual treats.

A Breezy-Happy Hump Day

by @ifarmgirl Silver Farm Girl

On the lighter side of things, I'm going to have another nephew grandkid. Someone's going to be calling me "Tita" "Lola" "Auntie" or "Granny" a few years from now, yay! It's pretty exciting to think that a little darling is about to join the clan and I'm now expecting that there would be chaos in my parent's house soon. A perfect present for the season, I must say. It couldn't have come at any better time! It's going to be a wild Christmas for the family.

Orchid Update! Something Good Is Happening

by @bdmillergallery

What makes this new bloom more exciting than originally anticipated .. Is the fact that it is blooming on what we refer to as Peppers Sympathy Orchid. This is a white blooming Phal orchid that was given to us when Pepper passed away three years ago. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long, but thankfully this orchid survived, and is doing well enough now .. happy enough that it feels to start blooming. We can’t wait till the first flowers open.

Advent Advent ein Lichtlein brennt

by @beeber Silver Owl

In any case, this week of "time out" gave me the opportunity to really calm down and think everything through again. It really has been a crazy year full of ups and downs, but honestly, whatever the outcome of the story will be, I've learnt so much valuable stuff in that time.
One of the things that went on my 'to do' list in hospital was to really avoid a lot more stress from now on. Unfortunately, I've always had this habit of worrying about every little thing and stressing myself out over every nonsense. A habit that isn't exactly beneficial in the current situation. Who knows, it may also be one of the reasons why the illness was able to break out in the first place.
