Happy weekend to all splinterlands lovers, how are you doing today?
This years, I had so many plans about splinterlands such staking hive in various communities- splinterlands and #ecency and @splinterlands, upgrading my splinterlands cards, staking more sps, and get more cards.
Presently I have to start with cards upgrading, and I have upgraded 3 cards at moment and they are:
Obsidian
Obsidian was the first card upgraded this year, I knew that upgrading obsidian is of my best interest.
Toward the end of 2024, I did my splinterlands roadmap; one of my roadmap was to upgrade my cards.
Well! I did not write about it, but I had it in my mind to upgrade my cards.
Obsidian was in level 4; and I knew that the best way to explore splinterlands was to upgrade all my cards. I upgrade Obsidian to level 6 and I will make sure to increase it to Max level.
Why was Obsidian the first Card I upgraded?
Last year when I was battling in splinterlands, I discovered that I was battling with many players with level 6, and it pissed me off. Those players were really hungry to destroy their opponents; I was paired up with most of them, and it was really hard to compete with them.
Since then I had my plan of upgrading my cards, and I have started it.
The additional +1 Magic attack
I like summoners that give a magic attack to monsters, and that was the reason Alric Stormbringer was among my best summoners last year.
Therefore, with level 6 of Obsidian, I will be able to compete with some players.
Tarsa
Tarsa was the next summoner I upgraded, and I upgraded it to level 5. Though, I just needed 10 BXC to upgrade it to level 6 which I will upgrade soon.
Right now, Tarsa is my best fire summoner: 7 days ago, I didn't like to use Tarsa.
My next summoner is Kelya Frendul: and I want to upgrade the summoner to level 5.
I believe by tomorrow, I should be able to get level 5 of Kelya Frendul. I love this summoner so much and I must upgrade it as soon as possible.

Rule of the Battle
Earthquakes
All non-flying and snared units take 2 physical damage at the beginning of each round, starting in round 2.
Heavy Hitters
All units have knockout (deals double damage if the damage is stunned).
I would have selected a monster with stun ability but the earthquake ability was the major problem was that the monster was non-flying monster.
Summoner
Obsidian
Splinter: Water🌍🌍🌍
Level: 6
Ability: additional of +1 magic attack to all magic monsters
Mana: 4
This Earth summoner is my best right now, this is because with level 6, I'm able to use some of my cards that I could not. For instance, Level 7 of Pelacor Mercenary was activated when I upgraded the summoner. Right now, Pelacor Mercenary has healing ability.
There are many monsters like that; looking at the battle I shared, if I was still using level 4
Arrangement of Monsters
Venari Marksrat
Splinter: Earth 🌍🌍🌍🌍
Level:1 ⭐⭐
Ability: Martyr
Speed: 1⚡
Health: 3 ❤️❤️❤️
Attack: Range
Mana: 3
The purpose of bringing Venari Marksrat to this lineup was to increase the start of Pelacor Mercenary. Knowing fully well that, the earthquake rule would not affect monsters with flying ability.
The moment Regal Peryton attacked Drybone Barbarian due to the high speed of Regal Peryton. The melee and speed of Drybone Barbarian increased by 50%, I.e the melee increased from 5 to 8, while speed increased from 3 to 5.
Hence, it made Drybone Barbarian the second monster with the highest speed.
Drybone Barbarian attacked Venari Marksrat and eliminated it.
At the end of round one, the health of Drybone Barbarian was reduced to 5.
Pelacor Mercenary
Splinter: Earth 🌍🌍🌍🌍
Level: 7⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ability: Healing
Speed: 3⚡⚡⚡
Health: 10 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Armor: 1 🪖
Attack: Melee
Mana: 7
We all know that Earthquake does not affect monsters with flying ability, that was the reason 3 out of the 5 monsters I used had flying ability. When Venari Marksrat was eliminated, the stats of Pelacor Mercenary increased, and attacked Drybone Barbarian. At this point, I thought that retaliate ability would be activated. But it does not retaliate.
At the beginning of round 2, two units was damaged from non-flying ability. That was how the health of Drybone Barbarian's health remained 3. Regal attacked and eliminated Drybone Barbarian.
The moment Drybone Barbarian was eliminated in the begining of round 2, I was very happy and relieved.
Pelacor Mercenary eliminated opponent Venari Marksrat and the stats of Helmet Kharafax increased.
Fungus Flinger
Splinter: Earth
Level: 6⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ability: Martyr
Speed: 2⚡⚡
Health: 4 ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Armor: None
Attack: Range
Mana: 3
The purpose of Fungus Flinger was to increase adjacent monsters which were Pelacor Mercenary and Regal Peryton. At round three when Fungus Flinger was eliminated, Pelacor melee increased to 5 while regal Peryton's magic increased to 4.
It was easy to eliminate Helmet Kharafax; but it was eliminated in round 5.
Regal Peryton
Splinter: Earth 🌍🌍🌍🌍
Level: 3⭐⭐⭐
Ability: Flying
Speed: 6 ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡
Health: 5 ❤️❤️❤️❤️♥️
Armor: None
Attack: Magic
Mana: 5
Regal Peryton's magic and speed was very crucial to this battle; it speed made it the first monster to attack in this battle. Inclusion of Regal Peryton was as a result of flying and magic ability.
You could see that all monsters with flying ability were not damage by Earthquake; all the monsters without flying ability were damaged by earthquake. That was the major reason reaso I brought it.
Screeching Vulture
Splinter: Water 💧💧💧💧
Level: 6⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ability: Opportunity, Flying and Scanvenger
Speed: 4⚡⚡⚡⚡
Health: 2 ❤️❤️
Armor: None
Attack: Melee
Mana: 3
This is the battle I saw how screeching Vulture's ability was so good.
With scavenge ability, it gained 8 health by the end of the battle.
Halaran Huntress
Splinter: Earth 🌍🌍🌍🌍
Level: 3 ⭐⭐⭐
Ability: Charge and flying
Speed: 3 ⚡⚡⚡
Health: 4 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Attack: Melee
Mana: 4
This was the first time I used Halaran Huntress. I have read about the new abilities in splinterlands, and I understood that Halaran Huntress could attack in any position. Also, the flying ability made it one of my favourite monsters in this battle.
It was eliminated by retaliate ability in round one.
In conclusion, It is good to use summoners and monsters with higher levels to fight in battles. I have those monsters with higher levels but my summoner was too small to see those abilities in battles until I upgraded my summoner to level 6.
If not because I upgraded my summoner, I would have lost the battle.
Gradually, I'm fulfilling my Splinterlands Roadmap for 2025. By the middle of the year, I should have fulfilled more than half of my planning.
