Good evening to all the Hive friends! How are you all? Tea time is that special moment of the day when you sit down with a warm drink. Now, wouldn't it be even better with a little snack on the side? Traditionally, we pair tea with light bites like biscuits, cake, or sandwiches, creating a delightful combination. Not only does having a cup of tea bring a sense of calm, but it also helps strengthen relationships. Whether you enjoy it alone or share it with family and friends, tea time offers a small but sweet pause from the busyness of the day.
Today, I made "Wandu Banis," which is easy to prepare and perfect for tea time. Let's take a look at how to make this delicious treat step by step!
Required Ingredients...
🍀 1 1/2Cupof coconut milk.
🍀 Crushed jaggery 75g.
🍀 2 Table spoon of sugar.
🍀 Wheat flour 125 g
🍀 3/1 Teaspoon of Yeast.
🍀 A pinch of salt
🍀 3 crushed cardamom pods.
🍀 A pinch of salt powder.
🍀 Few roasted peanuts.
Method of making....
First, take a bowl of coconut milk and add the grated jaggery to it. Mix them well until the jaggery is fully dissolved into the coconut milk.
Next, add 2 tablespoons of sugar, a pinch of salt, and grated coconut to the mixture. Stir everything well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Next, gradually add the wheat flour to the mixture and stir well, ensuring that there are no lumps. Mix it thoroughly until the batter is smooth and consistent.
Next, take about half a teaspoon of yeast and mix it with two teaspoons of warm water in a separate bowl. Stir well until the yeast dissolves completely. Then, add this yeast mixture to the flour mixture and combine everything together. Let the mixture rest for about 10 minutes, allowing the yeast to activate.
Next, pour the prepared mixture into molds for steaming. For this, I placed a piece of kanda leaf in the middle of each mold. Then, I added the mixture we had prepared into the molds. On top, I added some roasted cashew nuts as a finishing touch.
Next, it’s time to steam the mixture. Place the molds in a steamer and let them steam for about 30 minutes. Afterward, check if they are properly set, then remove them and enjoy the delicious treat!
This is a very easy and delicious recipe to prepare. You can adjust the quantity according to your preference. Whether sliced into pieces or enjoyed on its own, this treat pairs perfectly with your favorite tea, enhancing your tea-time experience. The richness of the coconut milk combined with the soft texture of the "Wandu Ban" creates a delightful culinary experience. It’s not only a treat for your taste buds but also a healthier choice. Until next time, when I bring you another new recipe, enjoy!
