How are you all doing? Preparing nutritious meals is essential for maintaining a healthy life. That’s why tonight, I prepared a delicious curry to pair with rice—Snake Gourd and Lentil Curry.
Snake gourd is a popular vegetable in many South Asian cuisines, known for its unique taste and health benefits. When paired with lentils, it creates a flavorful and nutrient-rich dish that’s both wholesome and satisfying. This dish isn’t just a treat for your taste buds but also a blessing for your health, making it a perfect addition to any meal.

Required Ingredients...
🍀 Snake gourd 100g.
🍀 lentils 80g.
🍀 1 1/2 cup of coconut milk.
🍀 Curry leaves.
🍀 Two pieces of pandan.
🍀 1/2 tomato cut into small pieces
🍀 2 cloves garlic finely chopped.
🍀 A few chopped green chillies.
🍀 About 2 cinnamon sticks.
🍀 1 teaspoon of chili powder.
🍀 1/2 teaspoon of curry powder.
🍀 1/4 teaspoon of Fenugreek.
🍀 Salt as needed.
🍀 1/2 Teaspoon of turmeric powder.
🍀 1/3 teaspoon of Mustard powder..
Method of making....
Begin by thoroughly washing and cleaning the snake gourd, tomatoes, green chilies, and other necessary ingredients. Once cleaned: Slice the snake gourd into thin, round pieces. Chop the tomatoes and green chilies into small, manageable pieces.
Next, rinse the lentils thoroughly and transfer them to a cooking pot. Add chili powder, turmeric powder, curry powder, mustard powder, salt, fenugreek, and cinnamon. Mix everything well to ensure the lentils are evenly coated with the spices.
Next, add about half a cup of water to the pot and place it on the stove. Cook the mixture for approximately 4 minutes, allowing the lentils to soften and absorb the flavors.
Next, add chopped garlic, curry leaves, pandan leaves, and green chilies to the pot. Mix everything thoroughly to combine the ingredients well. Since I noticed the water was insufficient, I added a bit more to ensure the lentils cook properly until soft and tender.
Next, add the chopped snake gourd to the pot. Stir everything well to ensure the snake gourd is evenly mixed with the other ingredients.
Next, add the coconut milk to the pot. Let it simmer for a few minutes, and then add the chopped tomato pieces. Stir briefly and remove the pot from the heat.
The combination of snake gourd and lentils in this dish not only provides a unique flavor but also ensures a balanced and nutritious meal.
