Let These And More Be Removed From....

In a society that do not place value on what one studies in school it gives room for many to think that it is so important to do away with some subjects and courses. Welcome to Nigeria where a medical doctor who spent years in the University and medical school finds himself in the bank as a cashier. Personally I spent 4 blessed years in the University studying public administration but today the only work I being faced with is teaching that even the monthly pay is not enough to take me for 3 days.

The standard of education on a daily basis is a shadow of itself because what we applied for it's not what we end up seeing. I remember back in the days when one of my cousins was encouraged to enroll into the University, he bluntly refused saying that when he comes out of the University he will end up carrying files about in search of job. This one thing that has greatly impacted the hearts of many people and lead them into preaching about skills in addition to the degree that one may get.

Some months back my husband related to me about his experience while he went to collect his original result in school. He told me about one PHD holder who is despirately searching for a job this so disheartening because years back I was told of how the government provides job for university graduates including an executive car. My uncle enjoyed this and we just see how the country has become a shadow of itself just in few years. My mother who had an TC2 as at that time started working with that and retired as a director years back. Coming down to her kids it is from one story to another. One is asked to go to the University thinking when he comes out there will be a job just for them to come out to say that this course is a professional course and the other is not.

These days people are so fast to go for courses that when they graduate from school they become self employed and gradually grow to creating job for others.

Many courses in our country today are not in anyway relevant, not that people don't learn well in there but because the system don't offer us the privilege to explore them in other to bring out the best out of them.

Few weeks back while chatting with one of my friends I told him of my intention to further my studies. I told him that I am looking at three courses of which I will choose from one. First is curriculum development, guidance and counseling also educational management. Analysing these courses he told me they are all good but the country don't give one the leverage to practice so one. He also looked at what will help someone stand on his own and even explore better. He encouraged that I go for Guidance and Counseling as it is a good course that one can stand on his own without looking at the government.

Several courses fall within this category, such as soil science, library science, public administration, estate manage, theater and performing arts, music just to mention but a few and some course just need to be merged. A country like Nigeria should just look for course that will aid to the development of it's country because if we should compare her with others, she is far behind. I was speaking with one of my friends who traveled out for studies just last month. She told me that the cost of living there is not high, I asked her w much is full chicken to compare with naira and she said #3,500. Aaah! I was surprised, she added that she already got something doing and that baffled me, just few weeks into the country and as a foreigner you are already getting some placement.

Going some courses and skills that will improve our economy is what I am after now because the rate of unemployment and underdevelopment is so alarming and something need to be done fast about it.

This is my entry to the second edition of the week's prompt in hive learners community. Thank you so much for visiting my blog today.

Soil science is damn good😎.
I did civil engineering in school and soil experiment is very important in running a project. It's just that cost is making engineers to overlook the soil testing stage. This is Nigeria!

Exactly what am to. It is good but the factors around makes it to appear choky
