When I (@dlmmqb) joined Hive, I found Hive less relatable to my taste cause of the cultural difference. Although I soon started enjoying multicultural blogs.
I found how much higher the abuse rate is in this region. It was even harder for me to count on newcomers because of the high abuse rate. One person was handling 1500 accounts and another was running a botnet while additional were just collecting girls' pictures from private girl groups and farming introduction post rewards. Everything was a complete mess.
I slowly scrubbed it from ground level and still to this date never tolerate this. Why was it like this? Were good and ethical Pakistanis were given any special attention (guidance, queries, etc)? We all know there are always good people too. With all the other voices, It was harder to focus on real Pakistani users. Till now was just me recalling all the history in my brain (shhh, or a private database).
Entrance of A New Member!
I do work on different projects on Hive other than Hivepakistan either as a volunteer or a member cause of Love for Hive. I found @spiritsurge one day. I already had bad experiences with anyone taking control of the direction of the Project (people coming from other chains), but still, with work experience in other projects I can say, I trust spiritsurge with sharing some of my responsibilities and visions. He also will be injecting his own flavor in HivePakistan for the usefulness of Pakistanis. This starts a new Era of technological advancement for HivePakistan. He also is the CEO of @surgentgaming and running @astralrevelation.
Achievement:
Other than all the mentoring and advisory efforts, Spiritsurge (A foreign Pakistani) made a monitoring bot (On my request) for Hivepakistan within 9 hours which was very impressive at least for me. He also sponsored everything related to it.
How this bot works?
From a technical point of view, we can add/remove Pakistani hivers from database. Once they are added, the bot automatically drops posts from those users whenever the publish regardless whether of the front-end.
Earning Credibility:
This gives us a whitelist of Pakistani users. I have experience in antiabuse and I will maintain it to the best of my knowledge and abilities.
I will also slowly public (my private database) our blacklist with reasoning after whitelisting work is completed or slowed down.
What it means for Others:
If you are a Pakistani, you can support or find other Pakistanis much easier.
If you are a curation project, you can support Pakistani users much easier.
Future Plans:
The project is a bit mature now and I can say we are working on other features in the pipeline. Our main focused areas are curation, onboarding efforts, and guiding users.
With Spiritsurge backing most of the tech work, I can take this project to new heights.
A Thankyou Note!
I would like to pay my gratitude to
@snook, our first hope in the darkest hours.
All IndiaUnited, Hivelearners, and TheTerminal team for supporting us.
@cwow2, @khan.dayyanz, @hivetrending, and others for your generous support.
A Special Thanks to @ayesha-malik and @amberkashif for working behind the scenes on this project.
