What happened in October is quite tiring but at the same time, it is fulfilling. Having these dreams of having a sustainable farm is a very difficult one. That is probably why other people resign from their jobs and focus on cultivating their farms.
As I have introduced myself before, I am an operating room nurse and being in the operating room is a very exciting job for me. I am enjoying every moment of it but it is truly tiresome especially those long procedures.
Not only we are focusing in the procedures we are also taught to maintain the cleanliness of the surrounding as what have established by the mother of nursing Ms. Florence Nightingale.
In commemoration of the Nurse's week, we also celebrated it in our hospital and this picture is the awarding of the best unit in the Nursing Service Department. I was part of the program by making the music videos of nurses and lining it up during the program proper.
Anyhow, I would like to go back and discuss the dreams we are aiming for.
As of now, we are doing backyard farming for our chickens which we plan in the future to expand in our farms. We must first practice the proper caring for organic or natural farming of these chickens. What challenged us was having sick chickens, it was a first for us to encounter chickens with coryza. Even so, among the 25 chickens, we had 4 sick chickens, 1 mortality occurred by coryza, and the other 1 because of intestinal problems giving us a total of 2 mortality. Anyhow, we have known that the other one was not caused by Coryza because as my brother butchered her, there was blackening on her intestines. It was quite sad because she was about to lay eggs.
The picture shown above is the prettiest chicken we have. We named her gwapa or mestiza which translates to beautiful or pretty. Gwapa is a cebuano term. She is around 6 mos old and is ready to lay eggs too.
We are looking for the mother of these two jumbo eggs. We could not incubate these eggs because it is beyond the normal weight for the high hatchability of the eggs so we decided to eat it for breakfast and it is twin yolk. It would have been perfect to use it for Leche Flan also known as Creme Caramel.
Enough with the chickens, I would like to showcase my cooking ability for our monthsary special or in other words as we celebrate our day with my love @xykorlz.
We are saving our money so we decided to eat at home and try new meals I have thought of cooking Chinese cuisine but I wanted to eat also shrimp so I decided to use the sizzling plate for the Shrimp Scampi.
So even though it was dinner, I cooked Chinese fried rice, paired with steamed Pompano and the Shrimp Scampi that I had been craving.
Now I would like to share with you a sneak peek at our home. I have decided to build this last April but until now, it is still on the build around 80% of the structure. Thank you dear God for making this to happen. Hoping that we will be blessed for filling this home with love and graces.
After visiting the construction site, we went to Tinagacan. It has ponds for catfishes and a farm of citrus fruits like calamansi, lemon, and lime. I have posted the start of this farm before and now here it is!
This is the lime tree that has the most abundant harvest. And we are so happy to have gathered plenty of fruits so that we could have our juice packed with vitamin C every day!
This is Kuya Jun, the caretaker of the Nene Farm (it is the nickname of Karl's father, he is the owner of this farm and Karl named it after him.🤣)
Meet MM with our dog Luffy, our firstborn as a fur parent. 🤣
This ends my blog for the month of October. I hope I can write more blogs that is more exciting and fun.
