The president of Barcelona has participated in the reception organised by the Spanish consul in Jeddah.
FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta took part this afternoon in the reception that the Spanish consul in Saudi Arabia held for members of the Spanish Federation, as well as for the participating teams and Spaniards living in the country. The reception took place in the hotel that has served as the headquarters for the Federation in Jeddah during this last week.
Laporta, who last Wednesday, after Barça received the CSD's injunction for Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, had a fight with some of the presidents of the territorial associations, has once again attacked in his speech, before the president of the Federation, Rafael Louzán, the decisions taken by the Federation itself and LaLiga.
"This Super Cup has been surrounded by controversy, which is the registration of some players, which fortunately has already been resolved and they will be available for our coach. We could have avoided this situation if we had applied the regulations correctly. But anyway, the fact is that it has now been resolved and they will be able to play in the final," said the Barça president.
Laporta also spoke about tomorrow's match, expressing his satisfaction at playing a final against Real Madrid again. "On many occasions we have had to play the final of this competition with our sporting rival and the fact that these finals are between Barça and Madrid makes them exciting. It is a match that is played all over the world regardless of the competition in which it is held. And it is always an honour and a pride to face Real Madrid in a football match that will surely be exciting like all those that we have been celebrating for so many years and that enhance and give a level to football and I insist it is played all over the world. A world-class match," Laporta concluded.
The expected meeting between the president of Barça and Florentino Pérez could not take place at the reception, as the president of Real Madrid will not arrive in Jeddah until Saturday evening after having stayed in Madrid for professional commitments. Emilio Butragueño was the top representative of the white club at the reception organised by the Spanish consul in Jeddah.
