Hi community!

The Pole reached the 55% participation rate required to guarantee himself a fourth year of contract with Barça in Las Palmas.

Robert Lewandowski is now the absolute master of his future with FC Barcelona. The moment Cordero Vega blew the whistle for the end of the first half at the Gran Canaria Stadium, the Polish striker surpassed the 55% participation stipulated in his contract to depend only on himself for the fourth year he has signed with the Blaugrana club.

When he left Bayern for Barça in the summer of 2022, Lewandowski signed a four-year deal, but the contract agreed stipulated that the club could terminate the fourth campaign if the Warsaw native did not reach a minimum of 55% of the games in his third year, playing at least 45 minutes. With his starting role against Las Palmas, Lewandowski has already guaranteed himself that percentage, so for all intents and purposes his contract is already considered to expire on June 30, 2026.

In the best-case scenario for Barça, Hansi Flick's team will play a total of 61 games: 38 in La Liga, 15 in the Champions League, six in the Copa del Rey and two in the Spanish Super Cup. That means that Lewandowski needed at least 34 games playing 45 minutes or more. Well, 'Lewy' has fulfilled those 34 games with his starting role against Las Palmas.

Of the 37 games that Barça has played so far this season, the Pole has only played less than 45 minutes in four: the games against Betis and Valencia in the Copa del Rey and the league matches at Mallorca and at home against Valencia.

Contractual curiosities aside, the truth is that Barça did not want to wait for Lewandowski to reach that figure to make it clear that they are counting on him for the next season. With 32 goals in 34 games, almost one goal per game on average, the striker has raised his level after a more discreet second year.

For its part, Barça also knows that 'Lewy' is happy in Barcelona and wants to continue wearing the Blaugrana shirt, with which he hopes to continue winning titles, possibly the Champions League.

See You soon!
