In our country Venezuela when we talk about embark, or embark, not only refers to the literal fact of taking a boat to navigate either at sea or in a river, when we talk about embark can also refer to the fact of leaving someone waiting.

Thus, when we make a commitment to go out with someone, to visit or accompany someone in some activity and for some reason we cannot attend, or simply do not want to do it, it is said that we leave the other person on board.

In our culture it is very common for these things to happen, since many values are being lost, which makes people's word lose credibility. This happens mostly because people have become accustomed to making commitments just to avoid looking bad at the moment, what we call here "getting out of the way".

Going back to the past, in my town they used to say that a man's word was a document, that is to say, it was difficult for a person who committed his word not to keep this commitment, a value that is scarce these days and that we are obliged to recover for the good of society.

It is possible that it has ever happened to you and someone has left you on board after having made an appointment for any purpose, surely you agree with me that it is a very uncomfortable and even outrageous situation.

The bible recommends: "Do unto men as you would have them do unto you" in other words, as you would have them treat you, treat other people, if you made a commitment you must learn to keep and honor your word so as not to leave anyone on board and disappointed.

In my personal opinion we must recover values that are being lost with time, one of them is this, to know how to honor the acquired commitment, to recover the power of the word word to return in a certain way to our origins.

Let me know what you think!
