MINIMALIST MUSINGS

in #hive-1948486 days ago

Envision a world where everything in it serves a purpose and doesn’t just lie around without no purpose. When it feels like every day is a start of something new and fresh. This is one of the so many things being a minimalist has brought to me. Not to mention the part of my life that feels like I have little or no choice, which is living with people who don’t really care about my life as a minimalist.

For the past one month, I have had the opportunity to live in my own space, do the things I have always wanted to do and it has been really nice. My mornings usually starts with me saying a prayer and reading a verse or two from the Bible and then, I proceed to create my post for the day. I try my best to always wake up as early as possible and this is because I want to make the most of my day. Once I’m done with my post, I make my breakfast and then take my shower to get ready for class.

Thanks to the fact that I have classes daily except on weekends, I get the opportunity to go on morning walks more often than usual. Morning walks are the best for me because the breeze is always cool and soft on my skin unlike afternoon walks coming back from classes. Although, I also enjoy my afternoon walks because that is when I get the best photograph of things. The good part is that I have an umbrella that makes walking under the scorching sun a little bearable.

When I take these pictures on my way back home, they put a smile on my face especially when the photograph is that of the sky. I mean, what is there not to andmi about the sky? For me, everything is lovely about it and I don’t think twice before bringing out my phone for a shot, especially those ones you don’t get to see everyday. When I’m at home on some days, I just scroll through my gallery and find these images and I feel fulfilled and reminded of beautiful days that I have gotten to experience.

Being a minimalist gives me this sense of clarity on things and as the day goes by, I keep figuring out the things that causes my space to be cluttered and I only do that when I realize that there is something important that needs to be in my space. So making room for it gives me the opportunity to clear off those things that are just lying around. The more I clear off the things that don’t matter and replace them with those things that matter, the freer and happier I become. Hence, the more meaningful everything around me becomes.

Sometimes, the urge of keeping things that I know are not meaningful to me comes because of maybe the person who gave them to me or because of how much I got them, but then, things are getting better the more I learn to only get the things that are needed and not just things that I feel I want. And also, thanks to my minimalist approach to things, giving out has become a lot easier. Once I know I don’t have a need for something, instead of letting it clutter my space when I know of someone who needs it, giving it our becomes the best way to free up my space especially if that thing was once important to me. Knowing that someone else will cherish it just like I did brings its own satisfaction to me.

My minimalist practices has helped me improve in the aspect of being productive and that is because, most of the things I’m surrounded with serves a purpose and seeing them just reminds me of what I need to do at every given point in time except for those days when I just feel really lazy. And thanks to minimalism, I seldomly find myself lazing around for too long than I was before taking minimalist practices seriously.
