Here I am wondering how many of us have seen this movie titled ”THE MAGICIAN’S ELEPHANT”. The movie is an animated film, that is based on a novel written by Kate DiCamillo. I remember watching this movie on YouTube back in 2022 although it was officially released on Netflix in 2023. I can remember how bored I was that day and just thought of searching for a movie on YouTube and I’m happy I found one. This movie, just like most other animation films I have seen, caught my eyes because of the beautiful visuals. Just seeing the characters alone, I was interested in seeing what it has to offer and why that title.
The magician’s Elephant is not so different from the many other animations you must have seen but for some reason, I just love it. Maybe it was because at the time I saw it, I just needed a good animation with captivating graphics and this movie gave that. I don’t know if I’m the only one but I love when my animation characters look sharp and attractive, sometimes I don’t even care if they act the same scene from another movie, I’ll love it just the same.
Well, the storyline revolves around a 10 year old boy Peter Augustus, who lost his parents many years ago and was living with an old soldier. As an old soldier you can want to guess what this man wishes for Peter to become, hehe. Well, Peter was a bright boy and even at a young age, he already knew what he wanted and was willing to go for it even if it meant disobeying his guardian.
There was also a magician who was seen as a illusionist, until one day when he decided to try out his magic tricks one last time (although, I’m very sure he wouldn’t have given up) and something incredible happened. An elephant fell from the sky and fell on an old lady who was royalty. The story gets a little complicated from there and you’d love to find out what happened afterwards, hehe.
Peter met a fortune teller once, she asked him to think about what he would like to ask of her because he can only asked just one question. Peter asked about how he could find his sister and she told him how to. From that point forward, all he wanted was to look for her. The fortunate teller told him to follow an elephant which has never been heard of before in that town. Despite that, Peter was still hopeful and he went in search for an elephant and that was when the magician’s final trick worked something magnificent.
If there is anything I loved about this movie, it is the way it was filled with so much positivity and hope. Peter as a little boy who faced so many challenges but then, he never feared the outcome, he was always ready to come out strong. Even though there was an elephant now in the town, how do you think the elephant will lead Peter to his sister? Want to find out? The movie is fictional but there is so much to learn from it. I’d give it a 3.5/5 as my rating and that’s because it was too short. I wished it was longer. I enjoyed how Peter kept proving those who were unbelieving that anything was possible. The magician’s elephant has a simple story line that I believe anyone won’t mind seeing but I’m very sure only few people have seen this one and I’m happy to be making a review about it, hoping that you check it out.
