Being on hive has taught me so many things that I’m very sure I would not have been able to learn if I didn’t find hive. To me, hive is a great learning place and to think that I even get rewarded for most of my efforts put into learning and also sharing my own experiences and knowledge about things, that’s something that makes it even more priceless. Some days, I just sit in my room and start thinking how life would have been for me if I wasn’t on hive.
I’m already in my 3rd year on hive and I have received really great support from a lot of different users both directly and indirectly, my biggest appreciation to you all. Do I deserve them? Well for the fact I put in the work of showing up, I will say I do a little but then, if I still didn’t get these supports I have no one to blame except myself. From these 3 years of my journey on hive, the first half of my first and second year was the most significant milestone for me and that was because I dedicated approximately a whole year to hive, engaging, creating contents and participating in different communities as much as it was possible for me.
In that year, even the first year too, I realized how important engaging with other users and also showing up daily can help improve my overall productivity on hive. Just like most newbies then, I expected the rewards to just keep coming in even when I wasn’t giving in my best as much as I could. It was only a matter of time I realized that growing on hive is way more than what you have to offer. It is about how much you can connect with different users as genuinely as possible.
I have read so many articles on hive and so many persons have different ideas of what hive is and what hive should be. The big question is, how do you view hive? The way you view hive matters a lot in how much you can strive here. Personally, I view hive in different ways. For one, I see hive as a social media platform. Unlike other social media platforms, hive is a web3 platform and this makes it a modified social platform. Just like every other social media platform, it is expected of you to socialize as much as you can if you wish to grow your presence/audience.
A day hardly goes by without me checking out my discord and WhatsApp messages and that is because I have made some friends there that I always want to check up on daily. Likening it to hive, the truth is if you don’t have friends here on hive, your journey will be 2x harder than normal and for you to make friends, you have to be engaging and also fun to be engaged with. Making at least a comment to someone’s post and replying to a comment on your post goes a long way in helping to put yourself out there. You don’t have to comment on every post you come across but if you do, make sure to read the post well and make meaningful contributions and ask questions where you are not clear.
By doing this, you start building this bond even though it may not grow to be a very strong one but it will go a long way. When people see you almost every time, it’s hard for them to forget about you. Like I said, I gave myself a whole year to building my hive audience through consistent engagement and quality contents. It wasn’t easy but it was totally worth it. I did that because I knew the following year was going to be a lot busier for me offline due to my school plans.
These days, I find it really hard to check out others post as I normally would have loved to and the effect on that has been evident. Except for the friends I have made during the year I was very active, I have made only very few new friends. Well, I knew this was going to happen because I’m not putting in the effort. So if you really want to grow your hive account, you have to consider showing up everyday not by posting only but by leaving insightful comments on others posts.
It is also good to know that, this growth is not so evident in a short term but in a long term. Also, another really good way to grow your hive account is by having more staked hive. The more others see your dedication to the hive blockchain in terms of hive staked, the more they are automatically get drawn to you. Sadly, I’m not building my portfolio as much as I need to due to some reasons and I’m very sure that is holding me back in some ways but then, I’m definitely going to do better with time. I look forward to another year when I get to make new connections on hive and hopefully that will be my next year’s main focus.
There are other things you can do to build your connections on hive, feel free to ask your questions in the comments and also leave your suggestions so others can learn more on how to build genuine relationships on hive.
Thanks for stopping by. ❤️
