Por estos días estamos viviendo deportes y emociones a todo nivel. La copa América, la Eurocopa, F1, IndyCar, golf, MLB, por suerte terminó la NBA y los torneos locales de fútbol están parados por algunos días más, no sé cómo haría para ver todo lo que me interesa si la agenda se ampliara.
Hoy es día de fiesta en la concentración argentina porque nuestro querido capitán Lionel Messi cumple 37 años, una fiesta que debe ser de alegría, aunque todos sabemos que los tiempos se acaban y en algún momento no podremos disfrutarlo más, ¡¡pero mientras está vamos para adelante y muy feliz cumpleaños!! Además, para los que gustan de las cábalas, la última vez que el genial jugador estuvo concentrado en su cumpleaños fue cuando ganamos la anterior copa América en Brasil.
Vi el empate agónico de Alemania con Suiza y aunque simpaticé con los helvéticos por ser el más débil, no dejo de pensar que con un poco más de picardía podrían haber dado el gran golpe, estuvieron más cerca en muchos pasajes del encuentro, taché a Alemania de mi lista de candidatos, solo pensar que en si en vez de Suiza hubiera estado frente a Inglaterra, España o Francia se comían 3 como mínimo, hasta Toni Kroos cuyo último pase errado fue cuando todavía llevaba pañales, erraba a sus compañeros.
Todo el fin de semana tuve tiempo para ver el Travelers, un importante torneo de golf organizado por la PGA que vuelve a juntar a los mejores del ranking mundial, otra vez ganó Scottie Scheffler, ya parece Max Verstappen que pese a algunos inconvenientes y tropiezos menores que lo alejan de la victoria en algunas pocas carreras, siempre vuelve y gana, a veces con contundencia y en otras peleando, como lo hizo Scheffler ayer o, vaya coincidencia, como lo hizo el bueno de Max unas horas antes en el Grand Prix de Cataluña, España. Similares experiencias, me ayudaron a matar dos pájaros de un tiro.
A última hora de la tarde vi la carrera de IndyCar en Laguna Seca, en la localidad de Monterrey, California. En la previa de la trasmisión me enteré que ese lugar exacto fue territorio argentino por una semana, si, no estoy soñando, pueden buscar en libros de historia.
El 24 de noviembre de 1818 una pequeña flota con 200 hombres al mando del oficial D. Hipólito Bouchard conquistó la bahía de Monterrey desalojando a los españoles del fuerte erigido en el lugar para su defensa, allí por una semana, enarboló la bandera Argentina. Pero ciertamente la Argentina no es el único país que se hizo dueño de esa porción de tierra, de hecho, en su casco histórico hay un lugar donde se encuentran desplegadas las banderas de todos los países que poseyeron Monterrey, entre ellas las de España, México y la Argentina.
Volviendo a IndyCar y la carrera, el que conquistó el circuito y se quedó con el triunfo y la primera posición en el campeonato fue el español Alex Palou, mi compatriota Agustín Canapino peleó durante toda la carrera y cuando al final parecía que lograría un buen resultado cuando marchaba 12° y aun podía continuar avanzando, sufrió una penalidad que lo obligó a pasar por boxes para perder todo lo que había logrado. Según comentarios de los especialistas, no fue un castigo justo, tuvo un toque con Kyffin Simpson que terminó con este último y Graham Rahal impactándose y quedando ambos fuera de carrera, sin embargo, fue Simpson el que no pudo dominar su automóvil que se le descontroló un tanto al doblar en una de las difíciles curvas del trazado y Canapino no pudo evitar tocarlo. En fin, cosas que pasan.
Ya agotado de tantos deportes a última hora de anoche vi un rato de Uruguay versus Panamá, cuando se puso 1 a 0 a los 15 minutos del primer tiempo y ante tanta superioridad demostrada, me fui a dormir. Esta mañana me enteré del triunfo por 3 a 1 aunque debió esperar hasta los últimos minutos para lograr esa diferencia.
Hoy será el debut de Brasil y mañana vuelve a jugar Argentina, en Europa se viene la última fecha de la fase de grupos, España e Italia buscan el pasaje a la siguiente ronda, no hay descanso para los amantes del deporte.
Conquest, birthdays, and many more sports
These days we are experiencing sports and emotions at all levels. The Copa América, the Eurocopa, F1, IndyCar, golf, MLB, luckily the NBA is over and the local soccer tournaments are on hold for a few more days. I don't know how I could see everything that interests me if the agenda were expanded.
Today is a day of celebration in the Argentine concentration because our beloved captain Lionel Messi turns 37 years old, a party that should be one of joy. However, we all know that times are running out and at some point, we will not be able to enjoy it anymore, but while it is here let's go! Forward and delighted birthday!! Also, for those who like cabals, the last time the brilliant player was focused on his birthday was when we won the previous Copa América in Brazil.
