In a weekly meeting amongst the department heads of the company, procurement put up a case of finance blocking funds for purchases because of claims of budget tightening.
However, the finance director tried to clarify and asked who exactly in his department mentioned about budget tightening when he himself is not aware of anything of such instructions being passdown from him to his team.
After further delving into the details, it appeared that it was a total rubbish situation and a self initiated cost saving initiative put up by a single guy in the finance department.
After the misunderstanding was cleared, the finance director headed back to his department and had a one on one with that guy to understand why he did that. He then thank the guy for his initiative but warned him that budget is a sensitive topic, one cannot be passing down information about budget unless told to do so.
