Just to say, when I wanted to stop watching Isekai, I actually saw an anime with a different style compared to the other ones I've watched before.
To be honest, it's been such a long week for me as we've resumed classes for my final semester at school. Ever since the start of this month, I've been bombarded by my final project work, which has reduced my conversations here. It's still in development, though, but I'm glad I had a little time to write this post.
Last week, during my free time, when I checked my checklist for the remaining anime I wanted to watch, I saw this anime. At first, I was a bit skeptical about it, thinking it would be like other Isekai, but I later reconsidered and decided to give it a try just to relieve some stress (well, with the mindset that everything would just be the same anyway). Funny enough, it proved me wrong 😅😅.
This anime is a story of an old man who has lived his life as the world's greatest assassin. Due to him being old, he decided that it would be best for him to retire and teach the future generations of assassins. He had treated the organization as his home and really trusted them, but never did he know that he would be betrayed. The plane he was on was sabotaged, and he was killed along with the other passengers. After he died, he was awakened by the goddess and sent to another world, not as a hero this time, but as an assassin to kill the hero in the other world, due to this, he was sent to an assassin family who we're able to do several assassin missions.
You know, here's the thing: the conventional Isekai I normally watch is where the MC will be summoned to another world as the hero to kill the demon king and live happily ever after (and so on), but this anime really deviates from that and focuses on killing the hero. Well, the reason for him to kill the hero was stated in the anime, which I won't be talking about; it'll be a spoiler, but not a big one.
The other thing that amazes me is that he is even given limited skills in his arsenal to do so. We know that heroes are very powerful warriors or adventurers in our normal ideology, so for him to have limited skills to fight them, he will not have to rely only on his powers but also on his tactical abilities to pull the stunt off, which made the whole story interesting. And as well, it blew my mind.
Apart from this, there are other events in the movie where the main character was able to feature as an aristocrat as parts of his mission as an assassin after which he has trained for a very long time.
At the start of this anime, I was immediately drawn to it by its tactical intensity, which was pretty awesome, and I kept on downloading more episodes until I finished it. My aim that night was to watch one or two episodes, then continue my work, but I ended up spending the whole night watching the anime, which was time pretty well spent.
The art of this anime is really simple, and it doesn't really focus on graphics, but it's still okay. The art is also well drawn. And also, the character development was like that of Moshoku Tensei, where the kid will be born and trained till he reaches a certain level of skill and all.
Though the MC was still surrounded by females, there wasn't a single fan service in the whole 12-episode anime, which made it admirable. The main character was indeed serious with the whole mission, calculating possible ways to defeat the hero, though he hadn't even heard of him in the world at that time.
The most interesting part was at the end of the series, which I wouldn't say anything about. You can watch it in your free time, and I wouldn't want to leak any vital spoilers so that you can enjoy it as I did.
After finishing it, I really hoped that they could give the second season because it is really needed, there are still some parts that need to be explained, why some activities were done, and so on (maybe after watching series like One Piece, it has made me think this way about 12 episode movies). I really hoped they could do so.
Overall, this anime is an example of 'Don't Judge a Book by its Cover'. The name is too weird for how amazing the anime is, and I'd love if other Isekai were as creative as this anime is, or even more so. With this, I give it an 8.5/10.
Thanks for reading my post. I hope you enjoyed it. See you next time! Bye! 👋
