Hello sports fans, welcome to another weekend of football. All clubs and league activities have resumed after a week of international break. Although the EPL is yet to resume, other leagues are already in action.
But today I will be looking at Laliga Santander, where FC Barcelona played against Atletico Madrid at the camp nou. This was the second time both teams met each other in the last 12 months. The first meeting was not good for Barcelona as they lost to Atletico two goals to null.
During the transfer window, Barca bought some players. Ferran Torres was bought from Manchester City for 50million euros he has played three matches for the club, with a goal and two assists that is a nice start I'm sure he will deliver in the coming matches. Daniel Alves, one of Barcelona legends, returned to the club as a free agent, having him back will make an impact on the squad.
Aubameyang also came as a free agent to the club and it seemed Arsenal did not need him anymore hoping he will be at his best in the club. Adams Tratore was loaned from Wolves Hampton until the end of the season and a possible buy option.
In the big game, the first half was flooded with goals, Atletico Madrid opened the scoreline, a goal from Y.Carrassco and was assisted by the former Barcelona striker Luis Suarez. But two minutes later Barcelona banged with a goal, a cross-field ball from Daniel Alves to Jordi Alba who sent it into the goalposts with a volley. I was literally screaming when the goal was scored.
The second goal came in the 21st minute from another cross but this time from Adama Tratore who made his debut in today's game made the cross into the box as Gavi headed it into the goal post. Gavi is really an exceptional player.
The third goal was scored just 2minutes to halftime. Dani Alves swung in a cross from the free-kick, a header from Gerard Pique hit the crossbar. Ferran Torres tried to play an overhead kick but missed it. Ronald Araujo was quick to respond to the loose ball and fired it into the goalpost and made it 3-1 for Barcelona, what a first half.
Daniel Alves also got a goal 3minute into the second half and made it 4-1 Barcelona were looking unstoppable, it was nice seeing the boys playing well after an awful start in the first half of the season. Atletico scored a goal in the 58thminute a header from Luis Suarez. Unfortunately, Atletico failed to equalise even when Barcelona were ten men down, Barcelona played well hoping to keep it up.
So, guys that will be all for now, the AFCON finals are still to come and I won't want to miss it. Thanks for your time.
