Africa, a continent which bears the lands on which modern civilization began is lagging behind. The ancient Egyptian mummies, Mountains of Sankoré, Mali, to the gold, diamond, silver, and the other vast minerals and resources endowed with us on this country, we struggle to have peace, sustainable economies, and good infrastructure in most parts of the continent.
The west on the other hand benefitted from this continent through the transatlantic slave trade and now through bilateral trade agreements. Why are we behind them in nearly almost all sorts of advancemen?
Is it our ancient caste systems that segment our people into poor, weak and wealthy? Is it our inability to think progressively? Or is it just a matter of mindset?
A continent grappled with anarchy in political office, armed insurgency, coup d'etats, and endless wars, we continue to struggle for peaceful coexistence and economic stability.
$1 USD nearly equals 2000 Naira, people of Congo are fleeing their homes, elections are postponed in Senegal, and thousands of youths are plying illegal means through the dangerous Mediterranean sea. Where are we going as a continent?
Is there hope?
With the continent blessed with a booming youth population who are enjoying leadership training such as the Young African Leadership Initiative, Ellevate Leadership Training Program, and others, we are slowly shaping this continent into one that will be a superpower in the coming years. These training equip our segment of Africa's population on being better leadership and building initiatives to reserve our very own resources to uplift the continent.
We will be part of the competition.
Let's have a discussion in the comment section.
