Garden Visits and Some Harvests

in #hive-1406352 years ago

"Was the virus that strong or my immune system getting weaker?" I asked the husband earlier this week after I caught the bug from him and he said it's more likely that it is the latter.

The flu is quite nasty that it refuses to leave and so I have not been out to the yard this whole week and also partly because of the weather being mostly gloomy and wet. I'm just glad I had some photos taken during my wee garden visit when I first read the early bird alert two weeks ago. Lucky me, huh! Yep, you could say that, lol!

Kidding aside, I went out weeks ago when the weather was a lot nicer, with blue skies and patches of white clouds up there.

It was almost mid-day when I walked down the yard to where the chili and eggplants were with the pruner on one hand and phone on the other. I was not expecting there were lots to harvest so I didn't even bring a tray with me but look what I did, haha!

The eggplant fruits weren't healthy that I had to throw away several of them because they have hardened, others injected by some bug. But we did enjoy the good ones on our table so all good.

And I took these photos of our plum tomato fruits the following day after the eggplant visit. The bugs got to them first, again so we are yet to have any of its fruits on our plates.

I also visited the far end of the yard for some short walks days after. There are the strawberries and some other stuff like bulb onion, pineapple among other things.

Rainy days do make me unproductive outdoors so you can see my little garden's a mess.

And did I mention I've not visited the backyard too? There is a plot of lettuce (romaine) there and the husband harvested a few heads yesterday. I guess the place may have been overtaken by weeds and other stuff considering there's been plenty of rain. But like the other year, we will have them cleared by November so no stressing out myself about it for now.

Meanwhile, the neighbor's cacti and succulent greenhouse is also needing some care and attention. Although I must say her plants are still thriving and multiplying even when she isn't tending to them.

These photos were taken by the husband over a week ago while catching up with the boys over games and some drinks. I shared several other cacti photos 8 days ago and I can't resist sharing more of them today.

She had quite a collection and variety of barrel cacti and many others. Sadly, the market demand for these plants have now declined. The good thing is, she can still keep them in her greenhouse and hopefully be able to market them in the next months or so.

And there ends my garden post today which is also my participation to the September GardenJournal challenge.

Thank you and wishing you all a fantastic weekend!

so sorry you have been poorly.

We are too struck down by an annoying cold here. The kids have temps... i just have an annoying headcold.

We are prone to bug investations here too.. I expect lots over the next couple of years an we establish the garden.

By the way your garden is not messy it is a "work in progress" lol... its only boring gardens that are finished and neat and tidy.. lol

happy gardening

I

Thank you :) I am getting better and hoping the weather brightens too. It's cold here too and most neighbors are either having flu or coughing. I hope you and your kids will feel better real soon, it can be challenging to be sick.

Haha, yes, my garden is always a work in progress. It can never be finished, lol! I hope to do a revamp when summer comes.

Many thanks and yes, let's enjoy gardening :)

Cheers !LADY :)

Thank you :) I appreciate your nice words

Your garden has always been a great delight to go through from here in the virtual space since from read.cash.

Sorry about what those disturbing flu is doing to the produces in your garden. I hope you get rid of it soonest.

Awww, thank you !LADY ❤

It's okay, the bugs have probably left by now because it's been raining for days. Have a lovely weekend :)

Gosh! We have siling labuyo and siling demonyo, these two are so hot and spicy. Like, my nose will become runny after eating at least one. Can't even eat the skin.
That's too bad to throw some eggplants because they are late for harvest I guess?
You have pretty succulents ate.

Haha kilala mo din pala yung siling demonyo. Super anghang non, sakit din sa ilong, lol! Salamat DM, hope your weekend is going well. Maulan dito sa amin.

There’s a lot of produce in your garden. It’s a pity some of the eggplants and tomatoes went bad. Have to catch those bugs. Lol
Loving the cacti. 😃

There were a few yes, thank you :) The bugs couldn't stay out of the plum tomatoes. Guess they're delicious, lol!

You have a lot of stuff In Garden.

Hehe, Those Chillies are my biggest fear I can't really eat spicy.

Oh, so do you have any plan to catch those bugs before they harm more?

I feel like sick in rainy days way boring and unproductive.

Well Your pictures are so Good and outstanding.

Thank you lots for your kind remarks IDK. The chilies are like ornaments, lol! We don't really use them except when we have guests who love to dip food on chili sauce.

Rainy days really make one quite unproductive. Been pouring all day here so we've just been staying indoors.

Hi. Very nice post, the photos of the succulents are phenomenal. I hope you get better soon. Greetings from Venezuela 🌹.

Awww, thank you @multifacetas for your kind remarks. Feeling a lot better today, thank you lots and greetings back to you :) Have a lovely weekend

Uso din sakit sa'min ngayon kaya nagsisitahol mga tao dito hahaha. I guess that's the effect of excessive isolation caused by the pandemic at hindi na sanay yung katawan natin maexpose sa mga foreign bodies.

Ang healthy tingnan nung mga succulents hihi

Halla, hirap tumahol nang tumahol, nakakapagod, lol! Siguro nga isang effect yon, pero yung weather din kasi, iba talaga these days. Minsan sobrang lamig, minsan naman super init so siguro, di rin maka-adjust katawan.

Oo, healthy nila, dami pang mga anak yung iba, lol! Salamat Clifford, enjoy your Sunday.

Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well and that has limited your activity in the garden. There is nothing worse than having bugs destroy a veggie just before it's ready to be plucked from the vine.
Eggplant is a veggie that we have never had too much luck with. Despite loosing some, at least a few made it to the diner table.

I hope you feel better real soon.

It's often like this during rainy season. We couldn't do much outdoors so the garden is neglected most times. And true, I feel quite bad about the tomatoes. Can't seem to catch the bug that keeps injecting them, lol!

Thank you lots and feeling better now :)

So many different fruits you have at home and even though some insects or bugs damaged some of them, you have a good harvest for delicious meals and desserts.

I must confess that I don't love ornamental plants, but cacti and succulents do and I think it's because they are low maintenance and don't die easily haha.

At home a few years ago we had chili peppers, paprika, tomato and cucumber but an ant infestation killed everything.

Yes, we have quite a few and neglected them at some point hehe. Cacti and succulents are indeed low maintenance, they don't require special attention.

Sorry to hear about your plants a few years back. Cucumber is one of those that we have not the luck growing. May try again in the summer :)

Sorry it took so long to get to comment! Sorry to hear you've been unwell, it's a hard recovery sometimes and I'm still recovering from three months ago when I got covid. Going out into the garden definitely helped, even if it was just for little things, then a rest, an hour or fifteen minutes here and there. YOur garden seems to be thriving anyway which is great - something to look at when you dont feel the best xx

It's okay and thank you :) The husband teases I'm growing older and recovery is taking long, LOL! Used to bounce back quickly but it's dragging longer this time. You are right about the therapy that the garden provides. Hopefully, the weather gets better and we can be out for some air :)

Did you check for Covid? I hope it isn't. Take it easy over the weekend, and wishing you a speedy recovery.

No, it's just ordinary flu. I still have my sense of smell and taste so I'm sure it is not covid :) Thank you lots for your kind words :)
!LUV

Very good. Take care and speedy recovery.
