Honey, My Love!

in #honeyyesterday

Have you ever tasted honey directly from honeycombs?

We did just that some time ago. No artificial processing or filtering whatsoever. The clan - Mom's remaining siblings and their families (plus us) had a get-together at their ancestral place for a celebration after clearing my grandparents' tombs.

During the day, someone noticed the bees buzzing in the backyard. When they checked, they found a big nest hidden inside the small concrete dog house that had been abandoned for years.

They believed there were combs in there, they must get it! Kuya B, the most courageous man in the clan went ahead with other cousins. After a while, they returned with a tray containing the fresh, waxy honeycombs harvest.

Well, I was only able to take photos after they had eaten most of it, lol! Thankfully, I managed to get myself a small slice oozing with natural wax😋

"We are almost late," Kuya B said, pointing at the empty honeycomb. "A month and the wax and honey would have gone dry and we would not taste its deliciousness," he continued.

I was amazed at how ingenious nature is! Look at these holes! They are a spectacle! It made me wonder the length of time the bees created them. I should read more about them. Forgive me but I'm utterly clueless😌

Some bees are still in the combs and they are pretty friendly :)

I was curious as to how Kuya B harvested these without being stung and learned that first, they moved the nest and hung it on the guava tree some 5 meters away. When most of the bees followed it, then they took the timing.

"The queen may have left or it may have been on the nest but we didn't notice," Kuya B narrated.

That was my first and last time to see, touch, smell, and taste the natural honey. No processing, no artificial ingredients or so. We enjoyed it of course! Some just sipped the honey and others ate all, including the honeycombs, which I found quite chewy. The dry ones are tasteless though.

Meanwhile, it's Christmas Day and everyone is still in bed. We had a blast last night, sharing laughter and chitchats over food and a few bottles of booze.

Merry Christmas, frens! May your days be filled with lots of love and merriment!

It may not be your last time tasting natural honey maybe someday you'd have that opportunity again. I have also tasted natural honey some years ago when we discovered it in a huge castor oil tree. It tasted delicious. For one who longs for their natural taste you might want to consider rearing bees. Whatever. Thanks for writing and happy Holidays and a prosperous new year to you in advance.

Hi farm girl!!!! I hope so you're fine.

I never tried to eat direct honey from honeycomb but i drink milk once directly from a cow without mixing water lol 😆

Merry Christmas and enjoy your time 💓

I never got such an opportunity to taste so fresh and natural honey. Good to hear that at least you were able to taste it.
Just imagine What if one bee bite you😅? You would remember it all the time in life🤣. !LOL
