It's great to be back home! It felt like we had been away far too long when we only spent two days out of town, lol! There's no place like home they say.
Tuesday morning here and the sky is dark and grey. It looks like the other typhoon is looming upon us but we are hoping it will just pass by the Pacific Ocean and leave us be.
Anyway, one of the tracks we enjoyed while driving last night was Fast Car covered by Luke Combs. The song was Tracy Chapman's hit single in the late 80s but it's nice to listen to it even to this day. It gave me an idea for today's entry in the Three Tune Tuesday by Ablaze.
Fast Car
I think it is a great rendition of the song and it seems his fans agree as it was streamed over 65 million times on Spotify in less than two months after the album was released.(src) Luke even performed a duet of the same song with Chapman during the Grammys.
Luke Combs, by the way, is a country singer, who accordingly, began performing as a child and even dropped out of school to pursue music. He released his debut album 'This One's For You' in 2017 which peaked at number 4 in the Billboard 200 charts. He gained more recognition in 2019 on his second album 'What You See Is What You Get' which topped the charts and earned him various nominations (i.e. Grammys, iHeart Radio, Academy of Country Music, Country Music Association Awards, etc), and won some of them too.
Okay, 'nuff of that and let's get on to the second recommendation.
Beautiful Crazy
This was a bonus track on his album 'This One's For You.' It debuted 6th on the charts and reached number one on the Country Airplay chart in March 2019, "making Combs the first artist to send his or her first five singles to number one since the inception of Nielsen SoundScan in January 1990." It stayed on top for 7 weeks, becoming Combs' longest reign at number one."(src) It also topped other charts and was certified Diamond in June last year. What an achievement in a diluted music market!
Anyhoo, here comes the third track for today's set:
Where The Wild Things Are
This is one of the tracks on his album 'Gettin' Old' released in March 2023. I don't know what drew me to this one but probably the wild story through its lyrics or simply because it's my first time listening to it, lol!
Joking aside, I like Luke Combs, just as I do with any other singers out there. Some stand out and we listen to them now and then, others we enjoy for a time and forget until we come across them again. I'm sure Luke will stay on my radar (playlist) for quite a while.
And there ends my 3s for TTT. Hope you enjoyed at least one of them :) Have a fab and fun day, frens!
