I was on Twitter today and saw a promoted tweet that caught my eye. Normally, I wouldn't pay attention to ads there but then something on it got me intrigued so off I went for a little adventure.
"World's First Full Web 3.0 Architecture", these are the very words that piqued some interest and so I had to go take a look at their website.

We keep seeing Web 3.0 but what is it really?
It's the next phase or iteration on the web --- the so-called Decentralized Internet and I have to quote Point Network on this one on its simplest definition of what web 3 is:
"Open for everyone, censorship-resistant, permissionless, privacy-oriented internet with programmable money built right in." (Source)
I think that's clear enough, yes?
According to Investopedia, the features of web 3 are as follows:
- Decentralization (which basically means users have greater control.)
- Trustless and permissionless (no intermediaries and governing bodies needed)
- Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (faster and more accurate and relevant search results without human intervention)
- Connectivity and ubiquity (information and content are more connected and ubiquitous, accessed by multiple applications)
(Source)
And so what is Point Network?
Again, I have to quote their bold claims from their website:
Point Network is the newest framework that is taking over Web3: decentralized browser + decentralized domains + decentralized storage + decentralized identities. (Quoted)
It’s the only “real web3” at the moment, which is not relying on any web2 components, making it impossible to shut it down, censor, or compromise via centralized components. (Quoted)
At least they admit they are not there yet. And I believe no one is yet, but LeoFinance and Hive are working towards it.
Accordingly, Point Network will have the following features:
Point Browser
Decentralized Domains
One will get a dot point (.point) domain which cannot be censored or taken away. (farmgirl.point sounds odd to me, lol)
Decentralized Storage
"dApps on Point can only load files and assets uploaded onto decentralized storage (powered by Arweave), to ensure censorship-resistance, privacy and uptime." (Quoted from PN)
Decentralized Identities
One can "log into Point with one seed phrase, and you will instantly have addresses and be logged into every dApp on Point, Ethereum, Solana and other chains." (Quoted from PN)
Point Social
"One of our flagship dApps, uncensorable web3 social network on Point Chain. No more Big Tech censorship, personal data abuse, or profit-maximizing algorithms." (Quoted from SPN)
Point Mail
"Decentralized end-to-end encrypted email on web3. The architecture safer than ProtonMail delivers a big blow to mass-surveillance by governments." (Quoted from PN)
Multichain dApps
"Point Network is capable of connecting to multiple chains at once, allowing you to use your favorite dApps on other chains right from Point Browser." (Quoted from PN)
Other interesting things:
I have just downloaded the Alpha software and will test it then probably write my experience at another time.
Meanwhile, they are having a Bounty Campaign (this is a referral link) where one completes some Quests to get rewarded with POINTS. There are currently 2 very simple quests (on Twitter) which I myself is yet to do, lol!
And I'm yet to read their Litepaper and Whitepaper. Seen their roadmap and some of the features are "Alpha Ready" per their label.
It would be interesting to see further whether or not Point Network is going to deliver what it claims.
