Once in a while... Oops, let me rephrase that. Often, without thinking of the consequences, we allow ourselves to indulge in things foods that we find pleasurable not only to our tastebuds but also to our souls (indulging in flavors that make life delicious, so they say).
It is observed that when I am stressed, hurting, or exhausted, I always feel hungry (my stomach feels empty most of the time, and I usually have a nasty headache). In such circumstances, I tend to find comfort in sweet treats. They calm my nerves, my tummy, and my head too.
This shortcake, for instance, was my first treat on coming home from the hospital where Dad was confined earlier last month. I had been attending to him for almost a week until my brother came and took his turn to look after our old man. Being outside felt better and even more delightful with this box of goodness I enjoyed on the way home. Yum!
This pack of sweet delights was a present from the Farmboy when he came to pick me up on the day Mom got discharged. He knew my weakness and had one ready for me to munch on (Bibingka or a gooey cake made from glutinous rice, topped with grated coconut and sweet generous milk). Although I'm weary and tired, I ate 2 slices in the car before we even arrived home, lol!
I don't know about you but no matter how delicious, food tends to be tasteless when I'm in the hospital that's why I often have cereals in the morning and rarely eat other things during the day (only munch on chocolates, chips, or a piece of banana when I feel hungry).
While I am already home, I'm still having oatmeal for breakfast to allow my stomach to adjust to my usual diet (rice meal on normal days). I don't know when that will come but I'm enjoying and savoring the goodness of the healthier light dish on a cup.
I suppose it doesn't hurt to add a bit more sweetness to it with the help of Hershey's😅
Meanwhile, it's Monday down here in DD and it looks like heavy rain is coming as dark clouds keep hovering around, but I hope there will be no more stormy days ahead for we have had so much previously.🙏
Take care and have a happy new week, frens!
