For those around the LeoFinance ecosystem, LeoThreads is not new anymore. And the wait is almost over because it is going live on the 4th August, PST (which in my timezone is just hours away). I can say that excitement is high as most wait in anticipation. The countdown started with the official announcement on Twitter 2 days ago. No exact time so it's going to be a surprise.
What is LeoThreads?
Apparently, it has the same Twitter concept, so it's basically like tweeting (using 240 characters) BUT on the blockchain. It's writing your thoughts then pushing the "Create Thread" button. According to Khal, this has been in the works for 18 months.
More about "Threads" below from LeoGlossary.
Perhaps this will increase engagement around Hive throughout the day and it might be a breath of fresh air for those who are rooting for short-form contents. I did wonder if this would not be considered spamming in the Hive blockchain but I guess this had been worked out. We shall see when it rolls out.
How does it work?
Keep in mind, this is a general use feature. It is not limited to the typical Leofinance subjects. It can be anything that people feel like sharing. Want to put up a picture of your dog or cat? Have at it. Send out a famous quote or tell us what you had for breakfast? Knock yourself out.
This is truly the early stages of "Twitter on the Blockchain". - Taskmaster4450
And based on the teasers by Khal, it really does look like tweeting!
They even wondered how many threads will be created inside the toilet, lol!
And it seems Threads has other purpose that will benefit the ecosystem and LEO token hodlers too.
While most are excited about it, there is a massive financial component to consider. Like many of the Leofinance projects, the goal is to continually generate revenue so as to be able to buy back the tokens. - Taskmaster4450
Read more of that here.
I'm going to keep my eyes peeled on this feature, use and test how it works and hopefully, it will help me with my engagement to level up. I've been slacking in this area for quite a while now. And it wouldn't hurt if it also make me add more LEO on my wallet.
So are you excited yet?
