We are finally in the middle of spring season here in Greece and despite some random rainy days the weather is generally pretty awesome and warm. The last year I am living with my bf on a house at the countryside with a big yard and the past autumn we did our first attemp to grow our own vegetables. Growing at winter months was tough without greenhouse so we didn't have the chance to do a lot about our garden but finally the best season is here!
Today we woke up early with a great sunny day and decided to take care of our garden , remove all the useless grass and plant new vegetables. Spring and summer have the best vegetables and fruits of all seasons so we were super excited about doing this.
We started by removing all the useless grass from the garden. After that @knowhow92 gouged the garden area, mixing the old soil with new and adding oragnic fertilizer and leafs from the ground.
Time to plant our goodies starting with some lettuce. We have grown before lettuces so we kinda knew what to do and what to avoid. Our main enemies are the snails that enjoy eating the lettuce leafs, so a good tip to avoid them is to strew some ash around plant which is also good for the soil.
Fresh onion plants are the only vegetables that survived even the winter season and never stopped growing. Amazing plants right? We planted some new onions near the old ones. We also planted some arugula seeds between lettuces and onions. The perfect combination for salads...mmm!
We also planted one of my favorite aromatic herbs, basil!
Smells so good, I am looking forward to use it in my cooking.
Planted some cherry tomatoes which I love eating at summer months. It is actually our first time we plant that kind of vegetables but the climate here is ideal and I think that it won't be that hard.
We also planted some normal tomatoes. Both tomatoes and cherry tomatoes need to be tied on a high support for their growing. This is necessary cause both plants are growing upwards.
We planted some cucumbers and also supported them with some poles cause they are growing upwards as well.
Here are some nornal pepper plants, not spicy.
And some delicious zucchinies yiammy...!
Those plants don't need support cause they are growing down at the ground.
Andd here is the plant that I am most excited about...delicious strawberries!
That's all pretty much about our new garden, here is a full view photo.
I am so excited about our plants can't wait until this garden is full of colorful and tasty vegetables and fruits!
Thank you all for stopping by guys, I hope you enjoyed my post about my garden. Since we are new at gardening any feedback or tip would be more than welcome.
Have a great day!🙂
