Hello everyone, friends of like tu, I want to continue to make posts in this beautiful community, it's been a while since I've posted anything but I'm pretty messed up with work, but I saw that here on Hive, I forgot to share some photos I took when I was in Bassano del Grappa, a famous tourist resort in the province of Vicenza in Italy, and in addition to being famous for the production of grappa, it is famous because here there is a great museum dedicated to Antonio Canova.
Here in this museum, you can discover even more about this absolute genius, one of the greatest sculptor-architects of his time, and here in the photos I have shared with you, you can see many of his works. Unfortunately, in a few days this exhibition, which was organised for the 200th anniversary of his death, will come to an end, but in this museum there will still be several of his works on display, and I am always so amazed by these masterpieces, how can an artist create these works of art from a piece of marble?
I have asked myself this question so many times, these 150 works of his that I have seen for the first time because they also come from museums from Italian but also European collections, some I had seen for example at the British Museum in London, and some also in Vienna.
It must also be said that Antonio Canova, unlike Michelangelo for example, made studies before creating these works of art, whereas Michelangelo and other artists of the Italian Renaissance, for example, started sculpting straight away, without any studies, and this is incredible!
I hope you have enjoyed these photos and if you are an art lover, I hope that sooner or later you will visit this important museum located in Italy in the city of Bassano del Grappa, I thank you and I will see you next time, Bye everyone
