Hi everyone, in this post I want to show you one of my favorite mountain places: the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. It's a popular and attractive region south of the Swiss capital of Bern.
In a small area, you'll find a very diversified landscape with lakes, snow capped mountains, little mountain villages, hiking trails and much, much more.
Autumn in Lauterbrunnen Valley
I’ve traveled a lot in the Alps, for climbing and trekking, and I’ve seen many beautiful places from the Maritime Alps to the Dolomites, but the Oberland is very special.
You can walk in a green meadow among flowers, cows and farms, but if you just look up you’ll see huge glaciers, walls and many peaks!
In this picture Lauterbrunnen with its most famous landmark, the impressive Staubbach Fall, is the gateway to one of the most spectacular valleys in Switzerland. A total of 72 waterfalls gush down into this valley from the vertical cliff faces...an unique natural spectacle! Did you know that Tolkien was inspired by these places? Maybe the real Middle Earth is here 😉 ?
Lauterbrunnen Church, one of the village landmarks, is a typical alpine church.
Impressive views of stunning mountain summits can be enjoyed from the little village of Mürren. I took this photo during a trek, only a few moments before being immersed in the fog.
The mountain village of Mürren lies at 1650m above sea level and leaves a lasting impression on visitors, with its authentic wooden chalets and the breathtaking view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. In this photo you can see the majestic Mt. Eiger seen from the village!
View from Sidelhorn (a very panoramic summit) at sunset. The magnificent Finsteraarhorn in the background.
In 2015 I climbed Mt. Lauteraarhorn (mt 4042) and it was an epic adventure! It looked like to be in Himalaya!

Well, what can I say? I’ll be back many more times to this beautiful place!
