Bruges and Ghent are two of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe and two of the most-visited towns in Belgium.
Periodically I like to get lost in some foreign cities, wandering around remote streets and observing the local life, what people do, their usance and habits. No map nor smartphone in the hand…just a camera.
Bruges at night
My favorite moment for visiting a famous city is dawn for sure, most of the tourists are still sleeping and there is a nice atmosphere everywhere. I’m also curious to see how people start the day abroad!
Sunrise in Bruges
Early morning
I have to admit, I've a thing for cities with channels! Perhaps it's just because I love water around houses, whether it’s a river or a lake or just the sea.
At sunrise and sunset I always look for golden hour...this magic moment provides the perfect light to capture stunning photos.
Ice rink in Bruges
I had Bruges in mind for a long time, since I saw some pictures of a photographer friend. Ghent was a surprise instead, I did not plan to visit it but sometimes changing plans is a good thing. So I took a train and I went there!
In winter time I always hope for snow, it changes everything and some normal scenes become awesome.
I love the creativity and originality of Street Photography. Nowadays most of the world has already been explored, there are lots of landscape pictures about some famous places that don’t entice me to photograph them!
Street Photography is different, you can catch a singular moment that never occured, and perhaps it won’t happen again! And that moment it’s only yours, think about that…
Sometimes the best thing you can do in street-photography is just stand still and wait for the subject. Sooner or later, he will come!
I would call this picture: “Santa Claus is coming to town”, do you agree?
