Hello to all of you! Today was an exciting day for me because Set 9 came to the servers today and I couldn't wait for it. I think playing on PBE kills the excitement of the game and I didn't do that. Today I played my first game in this set and @therealflaws and @oldfool were watching me. Without further ado, let's get to the game!
You can watch the gameplay here without commentary. It would be bad if I add because we were talking nonstop 😂
With the new set, a mechanic was added to the game. You now choose one of the 3 universes at the beginning of the game and the game is shaped accordingly. This reduces the luck factor in the game a bit more. According to these universes, some compositions are stronger and some are weaker. This game I was lucky that we played in the universe I chose.
In the Yampiri Pond universe, in the rounds against monsters, instead of the classic monsters, there are Yampiri Crabs that allow you to get more loot. So everyone will have more gold and more items. And that means more fun!
One of the mechanics added to the game in the new set is choosing a legend before starting the game. These legends have their own unique augments. This doesn't mean that you can only see those augments by selecting those legends, but if you do, you will definitely see those augments. It all depends on your play style. I chose Draven for this game purely as an experiment, so you can see next to the first augment that this augment belongs to him. Also, before the augment selection screen, you will see a huge photo of Draven. Don't be scared :P The feature of the augment I chose is that when my units slaughter an opponent, they will get a loot sphere with a 30% rate. If I'm lucky I can get a lot of items and gold. Of course, I have to kill the opponents for this.
Let's be honest, the early game was terrible for me. I couldn't win any battle because I knew very little about the game, and that's when @therealflaws came to my rescue. He gave me a few tips. I didn't know which composition to play, but I had seen in a few videos that Azir was strong. At level 5, I was very lucky to find Azir. I also got a Spatula from the carousel and I can make a Shurima emblem.
For the 2nd augment, I didn't choose one of the Draven augments, instead I chose a new augment called Dedication, which allows you to get the emblem of the trait when you advance 5 champions with the same trait for the first time. So I'll push 5 Shurima champions and get another Shurima emblem. My goal is to activate the 9 Shurima buff because when I was talking to @therealflaws he told me that it's very powerful.
I can't say I had a good mid-game either. I was even last in the game for a long time and Jean was trying to cheer me up by telling me that it could happen. I finally won a round or two but I still need a lot of items. Especially my Azir doesn't even have 1 item yet.
Right after I said that, I managed to give Azir 3 items and activated 5 Shurima buff. What was the result? Azir destroyed everything! Look at the damage!
For the last augment I chose Rolling For Days II, which is also Draven's augment and will give me a total of 18 refreshes. And I don't have to use them right away, I can use them at level 8 or 9. Especially at level 9, 18 times refreshing a store can make a legendary champion 3 stars, but for now my goal is to get stronger.
I got to level 8 and strengthened my composition a lot. I activated 7 Shurima buffs. By the way, the Shurima buff allows champions with this trait to regenerate health, gain attack speed and increase their max health. Isn't it great to have all of this in one buff? I know it sounds very powerful because it is! But you still need to have good items, otherwise you will lose. I added 2 stars for Aphelios in my composition because his Deadeye buff is already active thanks to Akshan and he can become a good carry as his attack speed increases.
I managed to reach level 9, which was not very difficult because my composition was really strong. I only lost once or twice. I became invincible at level 9! I activated 9 Shurima Buffs and the champion I added to the composition is 2 star Aatrox! This champion is an absolute monster. He also activates the Juggernaut buff for Nasus. Champions with this trait take less damage.
One of the strongest compositions in the game is the one with 8 Void champions and I destroyed it! I'm sure my opponent didn't expect that :P The 3 champions that deal the most damage are the ones I trust the most. Aphelios, Azir and Aatrox!
Unfortunately, this opponent, who played Aphelios carrier, could not be my opponent. My goal now was to make a champion 3 stars and Jean agreed with me. We wanted to see Nasus 3 stars or Azir 3 stars.
Just before the last battle, I was about to make Nasus 3 stars. If I knew this was the last battle, I would have sold Azir and tried my luck a few more times. I say that because the last time we met, this opponent managed to beat me and I thought he would beat me again. If he had beaten me, maybe I would have made 2 3 star champions. I beat him and managed to win the first game I played, which was very proud for me. Thanks to @threalflaws for his help.
I'm not going to talk about the comps in general for now because I'm not sure which one is stronger. I'll start writing my thoughts on the comps again as I learn more. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it. Take care and have a great day!
