Hello my friends, the time has finally come! It's been about 5 months since Frostpunk 2 was released and I actually played the game for a few hours as soon as it was released, but I didn't have time to finish it or share it with you all. Surviving is not enough, now it's time to grow the city!
This game has incredibly good cinematics, so I would like you all to check it out. If you watch this before you start the game you can get a better feel for the atmosphere and it also reminds you where we left off in the first game.
At the beginning of the game we play as travelers. Our goal here seems to be to keep the travelers alive. Just like where we left off last time.
I don't know if you remember, in Frostpunk, for a building to work, it had to be connected to the center by roads. In Frostpunk 2 you don't need to do that, but instead you have to explore a place before you build something. They call it frost conquest. You can conquer up to 8 hexes at a time and you can't start in random places when conquering, you have to start in an already conquered hex.
You build territories in the places you conquer, we need to build an extraction zone to extract oil. Make sure you have enough hexes. Also another mechanic in the game is heat stamps. You can think of heat stamps as taxes from the people, you need heat stamps to build a place, to go on a frost conquest, to do research. This comes regularly and the only way to increase it is to keep your people happy.
In Frostpunk 2 you can look at buildings up close and it's a fun mechanic. People are working on the generator.
Now that we've started extracting oil, let's turn on the generator and start heating up!
Now it's time to build bunkers and build extraction zones in other wrecks to meet the needs of our people. As we said, development must never stop!
When you build a residential zone next to the generator, it is easier to heat up, so the demand for heat is reduced. There are different mechanics like that in the game, which I think is quite good. It will make you think and strategize while building your city.
We started building the city, we built a shelter, we built a food zone, and now we need to prepare for the next white storm, so we need to store food.
Damn man! You can even zoom in and watch the people going on the frost conquest, they go with sledges and pickaxes 🛷⛏️
Well, forget what I just told you. There's another way to get heat stamps, but it's not something you can use all the time. You can request it from the communities. As you can see, I'm going to request +165 heat stamps from the Travelers community, but in return, my relationship will be broken. If I don't make good use of these heat stamps, they can get me in trouble.
People are very pessimistic. They think we have to resort to extraordinary means to replenish food stocks. Don't worry (at least for now) guys, I'll take care of it.
We have finally started to stockpile food, I better build a food storage center before the stockpile is full because they asked me to stockpile 40000 food and now I only have 10000 capacity.
People have found a sign on the ground and are wondering what it means. I always think that religion manipulates people in these things so I will tell my people that this symbol symbolizes order and discipline.
How sweet! Some senior citizens say that they would give up eating themselves so that the young can survive. It won't be necessary, but I'm happy that they are altruistic.
I have taken care of everything in the city and have the necessary food stocks, now all I have to do is wait.
The screen has gone dark and that means the white storm has arrived! The preparations seem to be complete, let's see if everything goes well.
Despite all the difficulties, we managed to keep the travelers alive. We moved through the city wisely and used all the resources in the right way.
I think that's enough for today. We have witnessed a lot for the first episode and the adventure is just beginning. I can't wait to play the next chapter and share it with you. Thank you very much for reading, take care!
