Hello all. Brand new to CINE TV but very excited to find a place to talk about movies and TV with some like minds.
I try to stay on top of all the news around the movies and shows I like but there is just so much out there now that I seem to miss more than I like to admit.
When all the Marvel series on Netflix were cancelled and then removed, I was more than upset. Most of these shows were great and appealed to my darker adult side. Have to say that the best dark comics of my youth hitting the scree WITHOUT the babying of the stories to appeal to kids was refreshing. It is great to watch superhero stories with my kids but sometimes Daddy needs some alone time with his comic book heros. lol.
My favorite as a teenager was The Punisher. A true anti-hero just hell bent on revenge and killing all that do wrong. This was NOT a comic book for kids. There were tons of runs liek War Zone and War Journal that I collected as well.
There were a couple movies that brought the Punisher to the Silver screen but they had to be dumbed down with the violence dialed back to appeal to the masses.
---That was until Netflix brought The Punisher to their world in 2017. After an appearance in Daredevil on the network (which was rated TV-MA for us adult comic book lovers), The Punisher spin off started and went right for the kill. frank Castle was back to being the psycho anti-hero that I grew up loving. By the 2nd episode he was snapping arms, torturing criminals, and bashing characters to death with a sledge hammer!!!!
Pair that with the other adult netflix Marvel series like Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and The Defenders and we finally had some shows we could watch without the kids.
--Then Disney bought Marvel and all these great series (well except for Iron Fist) were cancelled and then removed from Netflix altogether. Gone. Nowhere to be found.
But now Disney may have redeemed themselves by bringing all of these shows to their Disney+ streaming platform. Must admit, i never thought this would happen with the main demographic for Disney+ being kids 5-15.
Disney introduced a parental setting to limit access to the 'adult' shows within the settings. Settign up another User that the kids can't log in to now lets the adults enjoy some real entertainment after the kids go to bed.
So now after watching Encanto with the kids for the 628th time, I can tuck them in and go back downstairs to watch some marvel super heroes kick some series ass!!!
I will be busy rewatching all these shows, but I will be happy doing it.
