Back to my hometown, Camagüey, I found some changes that "forced" me to dedicate some time to enjoy a Wednesday walk; and to join, in that way, the #wednesdaywalk challenge promoted by @tattoodjay.
I spent a very pleasant few days enjoying with family, and together with my brother, who is a great lover of our legendary city, we walked along Van Horne Street and appreciated some of the pieces belonging to the Railroad Museum that are outdoors.
De regreso a mi ciudad natal, Camagüey, encontré algunos cambios que me "obligaron" a dedicar un tiempo para disfrutar de un paseo de miércoles; y a unirme, de esa forma, al reto #wednesdaywalk promovido por @tattoodjay.
Pasé unos días muy agradables disfrutando en familia, y junto a mi hermano, que es muy amante de nuestra legendaria ciudad, recorrimos la calle Van Horne y apreciamos algunas de las piezas pertenecientes al Museo Ferroviario que se encuentran al aire libre.
The last time I was in that area, the rehabilitation process had begun, and there was a lot of expectation about how this great project that promised to revitalize an area that was quite deteriorated would look like.
To my satisfaction everything turned out very nice, now you can walk through that area imagining that you are in a great railroad terminal. It is a pity that there is no signage explaining the history of each carriage that adorns the landscape, because they all have something to tell, considering that Camagüey, then known as the village of Santa María del Puerto Príncipe, was the seventh in the country to have a stretch of railroad.
La última vez que estuve en esa zona había comenzado el proceso de rehabilitación de la misma, y había mucha expectativa sobre cómo quedaría todo ese gran proyecto que prometía ser dinamizador de un área que estaba bastante deteriorada.
Para mi satisfacción todo quedó muy bonito, ahora se puede caminar por esa área imaginando que estás en una gran terminal de ferrocarril. Es una pena que no exista señalización explicando la historia de cada vagón que adorna el paisaje, pues todos tienen algo que contar teniendo en cuenta que Camagüey, para aquel entonces conocido como la villa de Santa María del Puerto Príncipe, fue la séptima en el país en tener un tramo de ferrocarril.
The building where the museum is located has a very interesting architecture, playing with shades of blue and gray, with large wooden doors, and an excellent general state of preservation despite the years of construction. I believe that this is a characteristic of the Camagüeyano: the care of his city and the hygiene and organization of each place.
El inmueble donde se encuentra ubicado el museo tiene una arquitectura muy interesante, jugando con tonalidades de azul y gris, con grandes portones de madera, y un excelente estado de conservación general a pesar de los años de construcción. I hope to continue finding surprises when it is my turn to return with my family, which will give me an excuse to go for a walk on a Wednesday.
