Greetings dear mothers and fathers of this community, these days for my son Rafael and for me have been busy and full of important emotions, as I told you in the previous publication we begin with the preoperative exams for the surgery that he needs to extract adenoids, nasal turbinates and tonsils, this began last Friday with the blood tests and the chest x-ray, leaving the appointment with the cardiologist scheduled for yesterday, however things did not go very well.
Yesterday we arrived at the clinic first thing in the morning and we were first on the list of patients, it only took us a while to make the mobile payment for the consultation, after that we went in with the doctor, this is a lady with a lot of experience, as there are too many irregularities with the electrical service, at once he proceeded to perform the electrocardiogram on Rafael so that he would not run the risk of missing the appointment due to a blackout.
I wanted to take photos of Rafael in the process but the doctor told me not to do it, after obtaining the electrocardiogram, she proceeded to weigh and measure Rafael, she said that his weight is according to his height and age, then she began to fill the cardiovascular assessment form asking for Rafael's data and questions about medical and family history, until that moment everything was going well, he reviewed the laboratory tests and said they were fine, but when he saw the chest X-ray he took it upside down and his face showed concern , I realized that she was seeing the plate upside down and I told the doctor where the right side was marked, she told me "this child has the heart on the right side" and I immediately remembered that the radiologist repeated the plate three times and that she was very insistent in telling me to tell the cardiologist that the right side of the plate was marked correctly, at that time I did not understand why the radiologist insisted so much that I should not I forgot to tell the doctor that it was marked on the right side, but when the doctor told me about the heart, I understood that the radiology had noticed the problem and had not told me anything and that is why I repeat the plate so many times and repeated it many times. the same information.
When the cardiologist told me that the heart was on the right side I felt that my world was falling apart, I kept my composure and asked her what it means, the doctor was very concerned and told me "look, this is the right side and the heart of this child is on that side”, in radiology they had told her about this case on Friday and she told them that because they had let the patient go without sending him to cardiology immediately, she told me that what my son has is Dextrocardia that had not It was diagnosed and it is a congenital problem.
Then the doctor decided to repeat the electrocardiogram but this time on the right side, once the result was obtained, she wrote in the report and gave me an order to go urgently to the specialist heart clinic called Ascardio in the capital of my state, in the order says that she needed an evaluation of a patient with undiagnosed dextrocardia because she needs nasal surgery, she told me that this condition is diagnosed in babies but since Rafael never presented any symptoms or illness, no one noticed.
Today I went to the capital of my state at dawn to the Ascardio clinic, we paid for a car per position and we were there early, the place is big and I had to ask until I got to the child care area, there at the appointment reception they attended me and They told me that the closest appointment is for next Saturday, without any other option, I told them to schedule the appointment, so I have to go on Saturday to have my son evaluated.
Right now I write from home, I feel very worried, I don't know what it means to have the heart and possibly other organs on the opposite side of normal, I don't want to contaminate my mind with the information that appears on the Internet, I know that until now my son has never he has had symptoms in his heart, he is a child with a lot of energy, he never gets tired even after walking long distances or playing running with his cousin all day, even with his nose clogged with turbinates and adenoids he is a child who has no problems with physical activity, so I try at this time to think with a cool head and wait for the medical evaluation, on the other hand I consider that if there was something wrong with his heart in addition to its location, this would be detected in consultation with a general practitioner since he was baby because they listen to the heart with a stethoscope so i guess their heart sounds completely normal these are the things that keep me calm but i'm not going to deny that and yesterday I cried a lot for fear of the unknown 🥺 I hope after the evaluation I have better news to tell you dear friends.
