Sponge Out of Water Movie Review - Nice movie despite the intense hatred!
Honestly, I don't know why the movie Sponge Out of Water got so much criticism from people! Yes, it's definitely not the best SpongeBob movie, but for me it was a light and nice experience, and it presented funny and crazy moments as we are used to from the original cartoon.
The story starts as usual in Bikini Bottom, but this time it goes in a much stranger direction when Krabby's magic recipe disappears, and SpongeBob and Plankton are forced to cooperate to bring it back. The movie takes us from under the sea to the human world, which is probably the thing that made people criticize it the most, but honestly I think that this shift was fun and a nice change from the usual.
The animation and graphics were a strong point, especially when the characters came out to the real world and turned into 3D characters. Oh, this transformation may not be acceptable to everyone, but for me it was a new experience and I didn't feel that it distorted the characters or lost the spirit of the cartoon.
The comedy in the movie is as is known about SpongeBob, random, weird, and sometimes meaningless, and this is expected. If someone doesn't like this type of joking, they definitely won't like the movie. But for me, there were moments that really made me laugh, especially the scenes of SpongeBob and Plankton together, who always have funny chemistry between them.
The biggest weakness in the movie is the last part, which I felt like it suddenly turned into a superhero movie, and it could have been executed better, but despite that, I didn't feel bored or regret the time I spent watching it.
Sponge Out of Water is not a cinematic masterpiece, but it is a fun and light movie for SpongeBob fans. If you are used to its randomness, you will enjoy it, and if not, you may feel that it is silly. But for me? Very nice movie and worth watching.
