I need to get rid of Pepsi next year

in #hive-1196702 years ago
The question goes;

What would you like to improve in your lifestyle that could benefit your health? Med-Hive

I work out but I'd like to start working out more vigorously and consistently. I wouldn't want to be overweight since the doctors say it will affect our heart, so I need to do something to stay fit and gain muscles instead of fat.

My goal is to keep my weight down by exercising regularly. I've been trying to exercise for a couple of months now and I have been able to make progress.

This food is for two not one lol. I am sharing the picture because of the Pepsi

But I keep eating terribly and I struggle to quit taking carbonated drinks. I think I always drink Pepsi with every meal or snack. I am addicted. Majority of food photos on my phone has Pepsi in there.
IMG_20221218_220010_409.jpg

I drink too much alcohol too. So I'm going to try to cut back on the amount of soda and beer I consume.
IMG_20221102_145854_608.jpg
Again, this food is for two not one... Hehehehe

I also plan to stop drinking alcohol altogether. It's not good for me at all.

I'll also be getting up earlier than usual and making sure to get enough sleep each night. I know this sounds simple but I think these things are important to staying healthy. I often sleep late and wake up late, this shouldn't be so. I'll try to adjust and create a balance.

What unhealthy habits do I wish to change?

I don't eat enough fruits and vegetables. I know that I should eat at least five servings of fruit and three servings of vegetables every day. This means I need to eat two or three pieces of fruit and one serving of veggies each day.
IMG_20221007_204830_805.jpg
My problem is that I'm not really hungry most days and I tend to skip meals. So I need to find ways to motivate myself to eat more and do so healthier food too.
IMG_20221116_170225_765.jpg
I hope you saw the Pepsi

I also snack too much between meals. Snacking is great when you're watching TV or doing other activities but it's not good for your body if you overdo it.
IMG_20221112_105359_886.jpg
Even eating peanuts come with Pepsi, can you imagine that?

I should only have snacks once in a while. I can control how many snacks I have by eating less junk food. I need to start having salads with dinner and I need to cut out all sweets.

3 objectives for 2023 to improve my health or change unhealthy habits.

As explained above, I need to exercise more, eat more fruits and vegetables, and eat fewer snacks. And I need to stop drinking alcohol altogether or in moderation.

PS: All images are mine.

Siempre seras bienvenida. Feliz y exitoso 2023, bendiciones 👏😃🎆🙏✨

Hi Medhiver @iskawrites, good statement of intent to improve, you have taken the first step, I would say one of the most important, which is acceptance and the need to make changes in your lifestyle. Unhealthy food, soft drinks and alcohol affect our health, our sleep, our body, our organism a lot. It's great that you have decided to establish changes. But considering that they are already a habit and custom in you, I suggest that the decrease is progressive, so you will avoid the anxiety that could generate an abrupt absence. By doing it step by step with the decrease your body will start to respond and give you signs of improvement, you will sleep better, your skin will be smoother, you will feel more active, your cardiovascular, renal and gastrointestinal system will work better and you will lose weight, improving your figure. In your publication you have used a word that for me is magic "moderation". A few drinks in a sharing, an unhealthy meal associated with soft drinks on a sporadic occasion normally if there are no associated pathologies that interfere do not harm, the harm is the habit of frequency and quantity. We thank you very much for sharing with us and other Medhivers your experience and your intentions towards healthy lifestyles, thank you for promoting health, thank you for your support to our community. You are always welcome. Happy and successful 2023, blessings👏😃🎆🙏✨

And thank you so much for your thoughtful comment.

You are right, if I try to stop it abruptly, it will affect me. But if I take gradual steps, I'll be able to do it.

I'll try my best. I hope next year by this time, I'll have the testimony that I did it.

Thanks so much for having me in the community. I am honored.

Excelente que nos presentes y compartas tu experiencia posterior. Esperamos por ello 👏👏👏

Excellent of you to introduce us and share your subsequent experience. We look forward to it 👏👏👏

It a big fight to eat well but since you have determined to get rid of Pepsi and junk food. Good health to you.

Yeah. Thanks alot. I'll try my best.

Healthy welcome to 2023

We all need to get rid of certain foods or drinks from our diets. For food, I can't suggest any alternatives (partly because I would be a hypocrite for suggestting them). However, I have 2 strategies which helped me in the past:

  • If you're going to stick with junk (because it is an addiction), at least go for an alternative which has more to offer. Say, instead of a regular chocolate chip cookie go for an oatmeal raisin cookie. Just be sure the alternative has less of the bad stuff than the thing being replaced.

  • If you're going the "healthy" route, find something you can stick with and enjoy. Many people freak out when they decide to cut out bread, but they calm down when they discover alternatives they can stick with and enjoy.

For drinks, this is where you can get creative. You may know about juicing or making smoothies.

If you're a fizz addict, though, it can get tricky. This is what I've done, along with one thing I should do going forward:

  • Get seltzer water, then add a juice to it. Seltzer has zero calories, and the juice should have nutritional value (especially if it's some sort of citrus). The juice could be anything; it just has to be good stuff you like.

  • Add pepper spice to the drink. Powdered pepper like what would go on a pizza, not a chile-type pepper. The powdered pepper should help to jump-start the metabolism. Even if it does not, the pepper has other qualities of value.

When it comes to alcohol, I don't have any suggestions for what to do. However, I would ask how much BTC, HIVE, or CUB could have been purchased with the money spent on alcohol.

Hahaha... It's the part about the alcohol for me. 😂

Magna, this is amazing. Thank you.

Just yesterday while thinking about my addiction to junks and fast foods. I created the alternatives in the head.

Like fried plantain, vegetables, eggs, and fruts.... This is great, right?

As for the drink, I remembered this vitamin

And I decided to take on this one too.

I'm I on the right track?

I think you're on the right track with the food and the soft drinks. Vitamin C is definitely something we all need, and if you can include that with the seltzer water that would be a plus; pill form or juice form, either is OK.

If I drink alcohol 3 times a year that's too much for me; that's why I'm the wrong person to suggest what to do about alcohol. I could say to give it up, but I know that's asking a lot for many people. I think each person needs to have a reason to freely give up alcohol which is more powerful than the urge to drink it. Find that reason, and you can strengthen the will to do that.

Mine is coffee coffee and more fluffing coffee partner!

Haha... Is too much coffee bad?

Lovely greetings, iska.
Lol. You’re a big foodie. I know you finished all that alone. You’re a food terminator.

It is nice that you’re working out and keeping fit. Lol, I plan on doing the same, but I’ve just been very lazy. Well, working out is out of my plans for next year (maybe I’ll start later).

Whoa, you’ve gotta be careful. My mom is a nurse and she really frowns against soft drinks and alcohol. Of course, it is nice to take them sometimes, but do it in moderation.

I see you like sweet things. Hehe. Nice one, you just have to be careful.

Good luck with your 2023 objectives.

For me, I have drastically reduced the way I take soda. Only that I find it hard not to take energy drink. Although I have reduce at that too.

For me. I don’t drink alcohol at all. I don’t find it interesting.

Just like you. I don’t take fruits as much. I wish I do.

Omoor. You eat a lot by the way. Maybe more than I do.

Omoor. You eat a lot by the way. Maybe more than I do.

Haha... That's not me alone ooo 😂

For me, I have drastically reduced the way I take soda. Only that I find it hard not to take energy drink. Although I have reduce at that too.

Should I switch to energy drinks? Or is that bad for my health too?

For me. I don’t drink alcohol at all. I don’t find it interesting.

Amazing. I find it intriguing when I meet a guy who doesn't drink... No, weird... Lol

So, what do you do to unwind?

Just like you. I don’t take fruits as much. I wish I do.

🥺

To unwind. I eat a lot. Like massively. And drink lots of 5Alive.

That rice in your picture. Only me can finish it though.

Oh.

I would love to cook for you. I like people who can eat a lot since I can't eat much.

Smiles. I like being around people that loves cooking

Actually, I don't like cooking. But if I have someone who loves eating around, you will find me acting like I do because I'll feel inspired to wrap up recipes for them to taste... Lol.

Interesting. I stopped taking those kinds of drinks like Pepsi, coke and the likes since February and I have tried not to take them but only take malt and nutri milk because I feel they are still good than those sweet soft drinks I take.

Taking too much of Pepsi and the likes could damage one's health and it has to be reduced.

Hehehe. You are trying oo. Are you sure those foods weren't for you alone? 😆😆

Hehehe. You are trying oo. Are you sure those foods weren't for you alone? 😆😆

Haha... It wasn't me ooooo.... If not I would gotten fat... Me, that is watching weight 😂

Interesting. I stopped taking those kinds of drinks like Pepsi, coke and the likes since February and I have tried not to take them but only take malt and nutri milk because I feel they are still good than those sweet soft drinks I take.

That's true. My friend keeps trying to make me take more Nutri-milk. I like the drink but it doesn't quench my thirst. So, I consider it luxury.

Hahaha. You can say that again. Eating too much of food would make one obese and who want that? 😁😁

Dreemport brought me here tonight 😎😎

My baby girl and pepsi
Babe, my own is worse o
But I have you here to vibe me through and I will do same.

We got this 🥲 and I hope we get through and celebrate happily for achieving all we've planned.

All the best to us 🥰❤️

I thought you said you no longer drink Pepsi except yogurt 😏

Lol my own is worse, it's not about pepsi o 😢
My own is taking too much sugar 😭

Lol. I can't relate because I have a bad teeth.... Sugary food would be the end of me so I stay far away... Hahaha

Suffer alone 😜😝😛😂

And you don't think pepsi has sugar in it huh?

Wow

Now I can finally saw I have met a great food or snackie 😂😂

It's a nice decision you have taken. But hope you know it's not an easy journey

I pray you are able to keep to your decision because it's quite a difficult one

It feels like you wrote this on my behalf because all that you have written here is what I currently struggle with. I'm completely hooked. Every day I complain about how much weight I'm gaining, I only work out and eat healthy in my mind. Paid for a 1-month gym subscription one time, but I only went for 4 days. I hope you can finally stick to your objectives next year. As for me, I'll keep hoping for the day I finally become serious.

Haha.. it's the four of 30 days gym session for me... Lol. And the 'only work out and eat healthy in my mind'... Hehehehe.

I hope we will both be able to go ahead and take these goals by the horn. Thanks for visiting and for sharing your experience.

I honestly hope so too. At least I did 5 push-ups today😁

Hi @iskawrites! I'm so glad you decided to make all those habit changes you mention in your post. One tip I give you is to start by working on willpower, it is really the key that will open the doors to all the changes you want to make in your life. It is advisable to do it little by little, for example first you can say, today I will drink half of the pepsi I usually drink, the next day you reduce the amount and so little by little you will see how every day willpower will prevail in your decisions.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and that the New Year will be of great achievements for you and your family.

Oh.. this is a wonderful initiative, ma'am.

I think I'll have to do it this way.

Maybe, I'll start by drinking three times a week, and then twice and then once, and finally no more. Or once a month.

Wow, this is helpful. I'll try this. Thanks so much for your advice. I appreciate you. 💞

Yay! 🤗

Happy Holidays 🎉🙂

Awwwnnnn 🙈🥵❤️

Thanks so much, darling 💞💞💞

Hmm, the soft drink aspects is an unusual addiction people don't really notice it, like in my case it is was the newly rebranded lacasera it took me awhile before I knew I was addicted to it.

And for the alcohol aspect it won't be easy because alcohol addiction are always hard to shake off, firstly you need to look for subtitle for it, little by little you will let it go. I'm not a fan of alcohol but I have seen some of my friends suffer from the addiction.

Hmm, you do consume a lot of vegetable oil related substances, which I believe you need to reduce that to avoid obesity.

I wish you luck in health meal quest and I pray you achieve it, it will do you a lot of good on the long run.

Brought to you by dreamport
Thanks for sharing

Oh. There was a time I liked that drink alongside Pepsi until it started doing something to my stomach.. lol.

Pepsi stayed as my one and only true love

Vegetable oil? Lots of it.? I doubt. It's mostly snacks and drinks... These are my addiction.

Thanks for your response. 💞

I finds it easier to avoid the carbonated drinks easier if I have already made other options. I try and have a couple of bottles of juice or fruit flavored water prepared at the start of the day, and take one with me when I go out

Yeeeeesssssss... This is apt!!!

Yesterday when I saw your comment, it reminded of this

One time when I had this vitamin, I wanted to replace my Pepsi with this. I think now, I'll get on with it.

Oh, good idea!

Thanks so much for helping out. I appreciate you. ❤️

I hope you accomplish that goal. I'm telling you, this is kinda hard especially since you've been used to it. But maybe focus first on one goal... Removing the Pepsi in your meal for example. But don't remove it instantly, just little by little. In that way, you'll see the progress and help yourself to remove it until you're not craving it anymore.

Popped out from @dreemport.

I swear I won't be able to do it instantly, God knows I had Pepsi last night and I am having one as I type this reply. It's going to take a lot to stop drinking. I hope by the end of next year, I'll be able to get rid of this addiction. 🥺

Thanks for visiting.

Oh no, looks like you misunderstood it as water. 😅 That's hard if you won't help yourself. But by thinking about the positive outcome and self-discipline, you'll surely do that.

Woahh...Iska likes to take very good care of herself.

You know, I used to love to take soda a lot. In fact, pepsi was my everyday go to. That cold shhrrrrrrrr, followed with some heavy gulp, especially on a stressful and sunny day, hits different. Like you, I used to take it every now and then; maybe thrice everyday.

You must be wondering, "how about now?" Well, I got broke for a long time that I couldn't afford to drink much, and since then, I haven't been taking it much. Although now, it's Miranda I'd get instead.

And as for fruits...no one loves them as much as I do. As long as they are easily accessible, I'd always get them, no matter how financially capable I am. My favourites are bananas and apples. I can basically take any fruit actually. Cucumber isn't far too...

I wish you all the best with your goals!

That cold shhrrrrrrrr, followed with some heavy gulp, especially on a stressful and sunny day, hits different.

Gosh... You can simply relate. 🥺🙈

Well, I got broke for a long time that I couldn't afford to drink much, and since then, I haven't been taking it much. Although now, it's Miranda I'd get instead.

Isn't Miranda and Pepsi the same price?

You know I was only able to reduce mine a bit when the cost increased. Initially, I told myself I wouldn't buy anymore when the price went up, but I could only stay away for a few days and ran back... Lol

And as for fruits...no one loves them as much as I do. As long as they are easily accessible, I'd always get them, no matter how financially capable I am. My favourites are bananas and apples. I can basically take any fruit actually. Cucumber isn't far too...

I love Apples more.

Omo, I have to pack my bags and come live with you. Fruits seem to be the most costly part of my food budget.

And it's not easily accessible so I could cook a pot of rice the money I would spend on transportation to get fruits 🥺

I wish you all the best with your goals!

Thanks alot 💕

You can simply relate.

We might as well be relatives. 🌚

Miranda and Pepsi are the same price, actually. 😅
I just kinda like the citrus taste with Miranda.

The thing is, no matter how expensive soda gets, we will still buy. Period...

You are my new friend since you love Apples too...

And are you still deliberating to come move with me? New year goals, remember...?

I hate it when it's too expensive to get fruits. It shouldn't be so.

Haha... Maybe we are relatives 😃🤭

I love Pepsi more because I wouldn't feel thirsty immediately after having it. The intent is often to quench thirst and other drinks do not always give me that satisfaction.

Lol. Soda will always be bought... Hehehehe

I thought we were friends already? 😃

And are you still deliberating to come move with me? New year goals, remember...?

Huh...I am definitely coming 🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️

I hate it when it's too expensive to get fruits. It shouldn't be so

It's heartbreaking seriously 🥺😭

Everybody, meet my relative, @iskawrites!

I think Miranda came along when I started mixing it with coffee. I liked the colour change and I didn't think it would taste well with Pepsi. Pepsi actually quenches the thirst much better.

I thought we were friends already? 😃

Now it's official. Apple brought us together. 😅

Huh...I am definitely coming 🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️

Run faster...I kent wait!

It's heartbreaking seriously 🥺😭

I wonder, if you do get the chance to leave this country, would you?

Everybody, meet my relative, @iskawrites!

Haha.... Everyone meet me 🙈

I think Miranda came along when I started mixing it with coffee. I liked the colour change and I didn't think it would taste well with Pepsi.

Oh. I understand now. Pepsi wouldn't doesn't like competition, it crushes ....lol

Now it's official. Apple brought us together. 😅

Hehehehe.. that's amazing 😍

Run faster...I kent wait!

🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️

I wonder, if you do get the chance to leave this country, would you?

Nope. Except on vacation.

I need to be here to buy up lands and houses from those who intend to Japa 😃😆

Everyone meet me 🙈

Me, who?

🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️

You just added more emojis 😂

I need to be here to buy up lands and houses from those who intend to Japa 😃😆

Whooot???

That's a golden idea! 🤣
You're the wiser one. They'll come back to spend their dollars on your investments. You see the wit I am talking about?

Me, who?

Hahaha 😂😂... Me nau 🤧😏😅😅😅

You just added more emojis 😂

I am rushing over 😂

Whooot???
That's a golden idea! 🤣
You're the wiser one. They'll come back to spend their dollars on your investments

Hahaha... Yes oooo... Cos some of them will be back to spread the dollar around. And I'll be well positioned to take it from them.

You see the wit I am talking about?

I don't know what you are talking about ooo 😂🏃🏾‍♀️

You do have a lot to stop and we are strongly with you on them for this year. Excess intake of soda and or alcohol could predispose to lots of risky diseases.
