Zusammenfassung:
Es wird Abend, die letzten Vorräte sind aufgebraucht. Doch bevor sich Jim und Lukas auf den Weg machen können, entdecken sie einen Riesen, der beim näherkommen immer kleiner wird und sich den Freunden als Herr Tur Tur vorstellt.
Bevor wir mit Herrn Tur Tur beginnen, möchte ich noch einmal darauf hinweisen, dass Jim und Lukas keinen Proviant mehr an Bord haben.
Alles aufgebraucht.
Sie sind 2 Tage unterwegs, seitdem sie das Tal der Dämmerung erreicht haben.
Und schon sind alle Vorräte aufgebraucht.
2 Tage.
Während sie vorher 4 Wochen auf See waren und mehrere Tage lustig durch Mandala fuhren.
Keiner in Mandala konnte ihnen helfen und sie freundlich darauf hinweisen, dass ein Dschungel kommt und danach ein Gebirge und dann eine Wüste und vielleicht sollten sie etwas mehr an Notrationen mitnehmen.
Wenn ich auf Arbeit gehe, nehme ich ja schon gefühlt mehr Essen mit.
Und das ist mitten in der Stadt!
So, jetzt aber.
Herr Tur Tur.
Die Geier fliegen weg, Emma stößt einen schrillen Pfiff aus, und am Horizont taucht ein Riese auf.
Jim will sofort fliehen, doch Lukas hält ihn zurück.
Der Riese seht doch ganz manierlich aus.
Das ist eine Stelle im Buch, die mir wirklich sehr gefällt.
Denn hier erscheint ja offensichtlich ein Ungeheuer, aber Lukas beweist, dass das Aussehen doch täuschen kann und man doch erstmal mit der Person sprechen sollte, denn vielleicht ist diese ja doch ganz nett.
Eine, wie ich finde sehr wichtige Lektion für die Kinder, die das Buch lesen.
Und der Riese kann doch auch sicherlich eine Hilfe sein, denn immerhin wird er sich vielleicht auskennen, oder zumindest von dort oben mehr sehen können.
Er scheint ja selbst jede Menge Angst zu haben, kommt er doch nur langsam näher und bittet höflich, nicht davonzulaufen.
Nach etwas hin und her zwischen den 3 Parteien, einigt man sich, dass Herr Tur Tur näher kommen darf.
Und nun passiert es.
Er wird kleiner.
WWAAASSSS?
Das ist die Stelle, die mir schon als Kind Kopfzerbrechen bereitet hat.
Denn je näher Herr Tur Tur kommt, umso kleiner wird er.
Bis er schließlich auf normale Menschengröße geschrumpft ist.
Das widerspricht jeder physikalischen Erhaltungsgröße.
Ich hab noch immer keine richtige Antwort darauf.
Ok, post-apokalyptisch Irgendwas wird es vermutlich schon sein.
Aber was genau?
Quantenverschränkte Photonenemission?
Nuklearer Zerfall, der einen erhöhten Energiezustand der Photonen zur Folge hat?
Die Erdkrümmung spielt vermutlich auch noch eine Rolle, sonst würde man ihn ja von überall auf der Welt sehen können.
In diesem Kapitel werden wir jedenfalls nicht schlauer.
Allerdings werden unsere Freunde von Herrn Tur Tur, der sich als "Scheinriese" bezeichnet, in seine Oase eingeladen.
Was sich für die Beiden mal wieder als Rettung in letzter Sekunde herausstellt, denn ohne ihn wären sie innerhalb der nächsten Tage alleine ziellos irrend in der Wüste verdurstet.
Nächste Woche wird das Phänomen etwas weiter erklärt, aber eine Lösung ist es nicht wirklich für meine Fragen

Summary:
It is getting to be evening and the last supplies have been used up. But before Jim and Lukas can set off, they discover a giant who gets smaller and smaller as they approach and introduces himself to the friends as Mr Tur Tur.
Before we start with Mr Tur Tur, I would like to point out that Jim and Lukas have no more provisions on board.
Everything has been used up.
They have been travelling for 2 days since they reached the Valley of the Dawn.
And already all the provisions have been used up.
Two days.
Whereas before they had been at sea for 4 weeks and had been sailing merrily through Mandala for several days.
No one in Mandala could help them and kindly point out that a jungle is coming and then a mountain range and then a desert and maybe they should take some more emergency rations.
When I go to work, I already take more food with me.
And that's in the middle of the city!
Now, now.
Mr Tur Tur.
The vultures fly away, Emma lets out a shrill whistle, and a giant appears on the horizon.
Jim wants to flee immediately, but Lukas holds him back.
The giant looks quite mannerly.
This is a part of the book that I really like.
Because obviously a monster appears here, but Luke proves that looks can be deceptive and that you should talk to the person first, because maybe he is quite nice after all.
I think this is a very important lesson for the children who read the book.
And the giant can certainly be a help, because he might know his way around, or at least be able to see more from up there.
He seems to be very frightened himself, coming slowly closer and asking politely not to run away.
After some back and forth between the 3 parties, they agree that Mr Tur Tur may come closer.
And now it's happening.
He's getting smaller.
WWAAASSSS?
This is the part that has given me a headache since I was a child.
Because the closer Mr Tur Tur gets, the smaller he gets.
Until finally he has shrunk to normal human size.
This contradicts any physical conservation size.
I still don't have a real answer to this.
Okay, post-apocalyptic something probably will.
But what exactly?
Quantum entangled photon emission?
Nuclear decay resulting in an increased energy state of the photons?
The curvature of the earth probably also plays a role, otherwise you'd be able to see it from anywhere in the world.
In any case, we don't get any smarter in this chapter.
However, our friends are invited to his oasis by Mr Tur Tur, who calls himself a "mock giant".
This turns out to be a last-minute rescue for the two, because without him they would have died of thirst within the next few days, wandering aimlessly in the desert.
Next week the phenomenon will be explained a little further, but it is not really a solution to my questions.
