Hi guys! Welcome to my weekly entry for the Splinterlands Art Contest Week 288.
I struggled a bit with my entry for this week's challenge, but despite the difficulty, I think the result turned out okay.
My chosen entry for this week is the Fire Unit from the Rebellion Edition, Kha'zi Fire Mage. Just by the name, it's obvious that this unit has magic attack.
This unit has weak stats, but what's good about it is that it has dodge and scattershot abilities.
The Sketch
I had a bit of trouble with the sketch because, first, I couldn't decide on the pose. In the end, I decided to just give him a fighter pose. The part where I struggled was with the dragon armor on his fist because I couldn't get it at the right angle, but in the end, I think I managed to draw it properly.
Once I finished the outline, I started coloring. I was quite pleased with my new coloring style, although it took up more time, I was happier with the result. For the flame effect, I used a smudge brush to make the flames on his hand appear vanishing and soft.
For the background, I decided to draw large fires, similar to what I did with the flame on his fist. I also smudged these flames.
I only used a simple gradient of black and red for the background because I didn't want my drawing to be too cluttered with elements.
In the end, I've decided to put some flames in front of her.
And here is my finished artwork.
See you again next week for the new Splinterlands Art contest!
