Good morning everyone
And to my fellow needle workers, how are you all doing at the moment?
I feel so excited to publish a post in this lovely community yet again and today, I'd love to share this beautiful dress i made for myself
My love for body con dresses has increased and if i want to purchase or making any dress I'd go for a body con dress. I made this dress for myself with so much excitement and with the intentions of using it for church services
Although I'm not too good at sewing but I prefer making my outfits than giving out to random tailors because i have been disappointed several times and that triggered me to learn 😂
Okay so I'll you through few steps i used in making this dress and then i would love to apologize for incomplete photos 🙏. My phone malfunctioned a bit and most of my photos got deleted but I'm still glad i had a few left
So these are the steps I used
I folded my material in two and started measuring for the Qupper part which is the top , i divided my bust and body measurements into four and marked it in the necessary place, i marked my shoulder length too and also did the v shape on the neck . I then cut it out and attached my lining in it
I placed the one i cut out on another folded material and cut out the same except the neck, since it was the back, the neck did have the v shape , it was just a normal back neck and i also added 2 inches for a zipper allowance
I sowed my lining into all of it
I then proceeded to the lower body part ,
I folded my material, measured my waist my hips and the length of the skirt and cut it out and attached my lining too
I placed it on the material again, added a zipper allowance of 2 inches and also cut it out and then divided it into two so i can have space for my zip and my slit also
This is all of them put in together
I then started joining them , i picked the front top and the front of the lower body and joined them together
I joined the back side too but I left 5 inches for the slit and sow only 6 inches upwards so that they'll be space left for my zip
I then picked up my zip and inserted it carefully to avoid bumps buh unfortunately they still came out a little
I then proceeded to joining the body together
And what was left is my sleeves
I used my measurement and cut out the sleeves and attached it, and then used my elastic for the wrist to create a shape i was looking for and gladly it came out well
That was how i made this lovely dress
From the side view, this is what it looked like
And this is the back view , my zip wanted to spoil my work but I won😂
Sewing is fun and i hope to make more dresses for myself. I wore it to church and i got compliments, i was so excited and proud of myself
Thank you so much for stopping by, I'm grateful
