Hello Everyone!
The pesky tent flap, Some chilly rest, An inbound cold snap, Lots of prep to do & Condensation concerns!
Alright, I am starting my writing routine slightly early this evening just because I can. Even though I do not have much to report... I do want to do my best to stay on track as much as possible.
Last night the weather was not super chilly... but I forgot to block the bottom part of the tent flap (that I have no way of securing because the zipper is broken) with my muck boots like I have been doing lately. That coupled with not waking up in the wee hours of the morning to let the dogs out... resulted in my little alpha dog pushing the flap and the polyethylene out of the way so she could go potty.
The end result was that the stiff 'plastic' remained where she pushed it to upon exiting... and the opening allowed both the cold air to get in... and the warm air to escape from the tent. Basically, I was frigging cold as heck the remainder of the evening until I woke up just before dawn, figured out what was going on, re-sealed the tent entrance... and turned the propane heater on for a few minutes.
My big takeaway from that experience is that I should figure out a better way to seal up the entrance at night... so that does not happen again! I should especially do that before the real cold snap hits later this week... when the temperatures are going to plummet well below freezing... and are then going to do that every night for nearly a week straight.
There are some other things that I need to do as well... like get all the canned food out of my big storage tent... and store it away in my camping tent... so that it does not freeze and possibly break and start leaking. I also need to get the remainder of my good (mostly clean) rainwater put into smaller one gallon jugs (out of the fifty gallon barrel) so that I can store them inside the camping tent as well.
Another big concern of mine is condensation collecting on the inside of the polyethylene (that I have the tent wrapped with) dripping (or absorbing) into the tent itself. I think that for the most part the rain fly between it and the roof of the tent should work to stop it... but I do not want to risk having water droplets falling on my electronics... or anything else inside the tent for that matter.
