Celebrating birthdays with the family is a special and joyous occasion that brings loved ones together to cherish the life of a family member. It is a time to create lasting memories, express love and appreciation, and strengthen the bonds between family members.
As an overseas worker, I miss celebrating my family members' birthdays each year. Now that I'm back at home, I want to celebrate significant occasions and treasure every moment with them. Whether it's a grand celebration or a simple gathering, the focus is creating wonderful memories with my loved ones.
July was the month with the most celebrants, both in my immediate and extended families. July is the birth month of my three brothers and two nieces, including my auntie and a few cousins. We recently celebrated my niece's birthday, specifically on July 5th, at the beach. The 10th, 11th, and 13th are all special days. These are my brothers' birthdays. Our youngest brother's birthday was on the 13th, so we decided to celebrate it all at once.
J & J stands for Jerric and July. My elder brother's name, who also celebrated his birthday this month, was not placed on the cake because he was not present. We prepared only a few dishes for this simple occasion, which was for dinner. Anyone who wished to join was welcome. Only my grandma and uncle were present from my extended family. Some were busy, while others were not notified.
I made a choco ice cream cake and a gelatine cake (the green cake). Making them was quite an epic fail, though. But still eatable and presentable, lol.
Before we began to eat, my grandmother blessed the food and led the prayer. We were grateful for the benefits of life and the meals we received that day.
My youngest brother felt happy and grateful as we prepared a celebration for his birthday.
The other celebrant is a camera-shy (the guy in gray), so he didn't have a solo photo.
I guess we need a bigger table for this big family. It's not even complete, lol.
Not only was the celebrant delighted to blow out the flame, but so was this kid. As I mentioned in my recent post about her birthday, she enjoys singing the happy birthday song but prefers blowing the candles. After singing the song for the celebrants, we sang another round of happy birthday songs for her. She thought it was her birthday again. We repeated it several times because she kept saying one more. She's such a naughty kid.
She can't wait to eat the icing on the cake.
We had a drinking session after eating. Just a bottle, though.
That's how the celebration went. Whether it's celebrating special events, or embarking on annual vacations, these activities are important to me since they help create long-lasting memories and improve our family bond.
