After our coastal clean up (see: Coastal Clean Up blog), we headed to Joven's Grill, located in Parkmall Cebu City, to have our lunch. All volunteers are given free lunch after such a laborious task.
The restaurant opens at 10 AM but we a little bit early, around 9 AM, so most of us decided to split up and do some window shopping for the mean time. Some of my colleagues did their grocery since its a Saturday while my friends and i napped in the lounge area of the mall. We just have to pay 10 pesos each.
5 minutes before opening time, we are all gathered outside the restaurant. Everyone is excited to eat crabs and shrimp since this buffet specialized mainly on seafoods. Finally, the staffs signaled that their restaurant is now open and ready to serve us.
The quantity of the menu is just enough for a 449 pesos (10 usd) buffet. The aesthetic of the place is a mixed of wood and minimalists colors (white, black, and yellowish brown). The first section I reached out to was their cakes and pastries. I took some brownies and proceed to the main courses.
They also have "sha-bu sha-bu" inspired soup where you can choose the ingredients of your soup. Broth could either be chicken or laksa, I chose the chicken soup.
And the dish everyone was waiting for, buttered crab! Unfortunately, they don't have a crab opener so we have to approach the staff to open the crabs in our plates. Since im not a fan of crabs, I only taste a little.
My favorite amongst their dishes is the sushi platter. They actually have a fried breaded sushi that goes well with the sauce.
Over all, the food was okay (rate: 3/5), but because we were all hungry, people got a lot of food in their plates at the beginning only to finish it halfway.
We ended the activity with our stomachs full and hearts overflowing with joy.
That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
Love, Jane
