Hi hivers! As mentioned in my previous blogs, i was into gardening some years back. Unfortunately, due to life's demands, i already foregone this hobby of mine. But looking back at my gallery, it feels so great to reminisce all the plants i had in my garden.
I remember during pandemic, there was a time when my mental health was spiraling downwards. A friend of mine, who is a plantita (someone who loves plants), gifted me a pot of aloe vera. I took care of this plant and water it once a week. Everyday, as soon as i woke up, i check my baby aloe just to see if they were okay. This plant was what kept me going when i didnt know my purpose in life anymore.
One sunny afternoon, i was chilling in my garden and suddenly, i had this sense of enlightenment as i looked at my plant thriving. It gave me a ray of hope that my life should thrive too just like my plant.
I started propagating plants and bought a few other species. I just love taking care of these plants. For a time, these plants became my world and the reason why i wake up excited in the morning. So i thought of sharing some of them with you guys.
Aloe Vera Plant
My first ever plant! Aloe plant is very resilient as it does not need much watering. I do add chopped banana peels underneath its soil as a fertilizer. I used some of the aloe gel as skin moisturizer or hair serum. There are a lot of other use for aloe vera. Some even add the gel liquid in their smoothie shakes for stomach cleansing. Up to this day, i still have my aloe plants, the only plants that survived in my garden, even if i dont tend to them that often anymore.
Christmas Tree Plant
This ornamental plant is locally known as Christmas Tree Plant because is resembles like a Christmas tree. This plant spreads like wildfire and is easy to take care too! Sometimes i place these in my bedside table or desk for decoration.
Here is a photo of my propagated Christmas tree plant.
Snake Plant
The sturdiest plant i have in my garden. This indoor plant doesn't need much sunlight nor water. Some people say its like a natural air purifier so i make sure to have atleast one pot near my bed or my desk.
Look at that roots! That's how much it grown for 2 months. Patience patience patience. haha
Oregano Plant
I added oregano in my garden to serve as a scarecrow and avoid insects and rats. Sometimes, i drink this as a tea when im having stomach ache.
Parsely
Once, i bought parsley seed in the grocery store. It did grew well. I even harvested some and used it in some of my dishes. However, upon learning that it is a non perennial plant which is only capable of surviving a maximum of two growing seasons, i stopped planting them. This herb is quite sensitive to changes in environment too.
Basil
Together with parsley, i planted basil seeds in my garden. However, it didn't last long because some birds are eating my basil plant.
That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
Love, Jane
